I only knew it might be the problem because mine does the same.

Glad it was nothing serious.

If John's suggestion doesn't work, then look at the circumstances when it does it. Is it just sitting untouched on the table? Are you carrying it at the time? Do you have a grip fitted?

If untouched, then it's probably a fault with the camera.

If you're carrying it, and you have a grip fitted, then you're pressing the shutter release on the grip with the palm of your hand.

That's very interesting Dan! Do you have to keep it pointed at the camera while you're holding the button?
Yes you do, otherwise the camera doesn't know you're still holding the button down.

Obvioulsy not the best solution, but workable.

My old Chinon CP-7m 35mm SLR had a built in timer - you could set any length of exposure up to 90 minutes, press the shutter and leave it to it. Seems like a fairly easy bit of firmware to write to me...

I use a Centon FG-30 on my K10D. According to this site, its trigger voltage is around 200V, although I've not tested it to confirm. My camera's fine, as is my *istD I used before it, and I've had two different copies of this flash. I may just be lucky though...

Obviously the safest option is to use an adaptor like that linked to by John.

And I've just booked to go to Norfolk that same week - could have stayed at your house instead!

Have fun in the IOW, I definitely enjoyed it with my wife before we were married, going everywhere by bus and 'underground' train. There was a very nice Italian in Shanklin, got a feeling it was called Pavarotti's.

Was the Pentax 50mm f1.7 AF not the faulty one that sold? Sorry to see you go Simon, hope to see you around sometime.

I know I've posted it before, but this site is well worth a look.
