Hmmm, "Award winning photographer Pete Davis", then a mention of this: www.digitalslrphoto.com/_download/82989/00000116.pdf

Seems like he might be trying Nikon now too. (He has a link to his Facebook page on the website, not the most professional impression when you get there. Need to be careful what you link to what!)

You can get them - I know because I have one, it came with my secondhand AF080C ringflash!

It's a genuine Pentax item, but unfortunately it has no part number on it. I tried to find out what it was worth on the net, but can only find it on Bojidar's site, described as a 'reverse ring light holder K'. You might be lucky and find one on the net perhaps?

If not, Peter's solution seems to do the job.

Now, seeing as these things seem to be as rare as hen's teeth, any idea of a value of this genuine adaptor?

I popped into London Camera Exchange in Colchester on Friday, just to say hello, and discovered they'd got the K-5 in stock that morning, so had a good play with one then. Just felt ridiculously fast and responsive compared to my K10D, but haven't had a chance to properly look through the pics yet. I'm more interested in how they look at ISO100, but the high ISO capabilities seem outstanding, especially when compared to the K10D!

Will get mine in a month or so, got some other expenses to take care of at the moment...

Looks like I'll be first to ask: The "black safety button"?

That honour might go to Mongoose with this shot.

In that case why have Pentax gone to the enormous expense of developing a new focus motor? Most people whose SDM hasn't failed seem happy with it, so I can't see much beyond reliability that they gain by doing so.
As per my previous post the only issue I have is focus speed .. maybe the new motor addresses this problem as I know a lot of others are of the same opinion.

After all, no use upgrading the focusing in the K-5 if their lenses can't keep up.
Quite.

Have to say I actually laughed out loud at your comment MrCynical. It's rare for me to do that when reading something.

You might enjoy reading this, and perhaps you can then let every other manufacturer know how poor they are at producing lenses. I can't imagine any Pentax lens has had a 41.5% failure rate, but it would be interesting to hear Chris@SRSMicrosystems' findings once his rental scheme has been running longer.

You mention you've got a Polariser - these are very useful when shooting outdoors in bright sunshine, although more fidderly to use and take a bit of practice, but well worth while. I hope its the "Circular" not "Linear" type, otherwise they can be a pain if your front element rotates when focusing (I think your kit lens does), however you probably have a CPL (circular polariser)!
As no one else has picked up on this, I thought I'd better point out that a rotating front element will affect a polariser whether it's a circular or linear one. You will still need to re-adjust the polariser once the lens has focused.

The difference between the two is purely down to what happens to the light as it's passing out the back of the filter, remaining polarised by a linear one (which can affect lightmeter and autofocus operations in some modern cameras), but being de-polarised again by a circular one, allowing AF etc to work as expected.

Oh, and they can be very effective on overcast or even rainy days too.
