Do you find yourself yearning for a faster frame rate, better higher ISO performance, larger image files, greater dynamic range?

If so, get yourself a K-5. If not, stick with the K-7 and see what comes out in 2011/2012.

I think the question should be "needing" not "yearning"

We all yearn for the "next best thing|", whether or not we actually need it is debateable

Howard
Fair point Howard. I was thinking of 'yearning' as in when taking shots, feeling that something was lacking.

I tried out the K-5 when on my way to Clacton to give a talk. Having marvelled at the frame rate, speed of autofocus, high ISO performance etc, I then went and stood on Clacton beach with my K10D taking 10 second exposures at ISO 100. It's very easy to talk yourself out of buying something like this, when you realise 95% of the stuff you do won't use the features it has...

OK Dan thanks .. That is exactly the type of info I wanted.. I love my K7 but if the K5 is that much better then I'll have to get one.. Going to SRS site to see what deals are around..
Still not 100% as I also have the consequences from the wife to consider lol
I didn't necessarily say it was better for you, only you can answer that! Those are some of the improvements over the K-7, but if they won't make much difference to you, then wait. I'm getting one soon, but then I've just got a K10D, so the difference is far greater. If I'd got a K-7 I'd have a very tough job justifying the outlay, I think.

This post prompted me to get my butt in gear and start uploading some stuff to Flickr - via Lightroom it is surprisingly easy to use & manage but it's shown up one flaw in my workflow in that I don't take enough time to do my key wording properly!
Mmmm, I like LRPS Image 6. Not that I don't like the others mind, but that one stood out.

Says common but I have never seen one before.
Were there pine trees nearby?
Loads of them.
Sickener it is then! Well done Technoblurb.

I wondered about that, but thought no spots can't be, but I'm no expert.
The spots really can wash off, they're just the remnants of the veil that covered the cap before it opens out. I've seen plenty where there are very few spots left, and last week saw one with little piles of spots laying on the floor beside it.

It was me! And they still go with me wherever I go, although they don't get a huge amount of use to be honest.

Were there pine trees nearby? I can only see Oak leaves in your shot, so that might rule out the Sickener. It could be (and I'm not joking) a Fly Agaric, but only if you've had some heavy rain that may have washed the spots off.

It is No. 1, and we got up at about 10am this morning, and I'm still in my dressing gown.

Yes, I definitely go out in the rain, in fact did so on Sunday morning with a couple of Pentax users who were delighted to learn that their K10D and K20D could easily cope with the drizzle we had then.

Back in February I was out in much heavier rain, with the K10D and DA*300mm, and they got soaked (and muddy - had to put the camera down somewhere when I was setting up my tripod, just rinsed it in a clean puddle before I went home ). But I got what I consider some nice photos from it, so it was worth it for me. Have done the same on many an occasion too.
