Thank you everyone! Had the first smiles this weekend! Suddenly 6 weeks of 2am feeds doesn't seem so bad
Congrats Tim - I've got all this to come in 2 months time... Another good reason to get myself a K-5.

Can you imagine the real wear & tear on a shutter at 20 FPS?

People who have already bought a K5 have not done so for 20 FPS but rather the benefit of Hi ISO and Low noise.
It's not 20FPS, it's 7FPS for 20 shots, as opposed to 8 shots at the moment.

Alan where do I compare them with, you call them comparison shots after all?
You compare them with each other and with your own cameras images taken at the same ISO, then you discover you need a K5
Pixel for Pixel there is not so much improvement, but the K5 has quite a bit more
Really? Your ISO1600 images from your K10D look like the ISO1600 from the K-5 straight out of the camera, pixel for pixel? Mine look more like the 6400 ones!

When I had my *istD I had to clean it every couple of weeks at least. Used Eclipse fluid and swabs myself, now just the rocket blower with my K10D.

I think you can have a professional Facebook presence, the trick is keeping a firm eye on it and weeding out the inevitable spammers and trolls who'll try to post comments. I know a volunteer group I'm now working with has set one up as it gives us a lot of free exposure - rather than our members needing to remember a web address and pass that to people they think may be interested they just need to invite them to the FB group.

I am impressed with Lowepro's page on there - I've asked a few questions and always had an answer so they obviously pay attention rather than just trying to advertise with it.
Absolutely, but the idea is to have a 'business' facebook page and a 'personal' facebook page. The business one can be informal, but it doesn't tell people what you're having for lunch, or what you think of the football. Pete's is all in one...

The K10D, K20D, K-7 and K-5 are all HSS capable with the right external flashguns.
X-Synchronization: Hot shoe, sync-speed: 1/180 sec., P-TTL, high-speed-sync, rear curtain sync, wireless-sync with PENTAX dedicated flash.
Full spec here: http://www.pentax.co.uk/en/digital-slr/specifications/pentax-k5.html

Some of us consider the Pentax offerings to have at least been 'on a par' with Canon's and Nikon's for some time...

Yep and it's very, very handy...... Just the Kr isn't so if I want a Pentax with WR as I have WR lenses it has to be the K5......And that means finding quite a bit more cash from somewhere.....

Weather proof and High iso in one combination is a bit of a win!
Ah right, absolutely agree. I read it as an improvement over your K200D, but as a plus over the K-r, yes, it's invaluable to me too.

for me the k5 is a big enough improvement over the k10 to want one... I didn't feel the k7 was though and never bought one.
Ditto.

better low ISO performance
Do you mean high?
Possibly not - the low ISO performance is apparently better than the K20D/K-7 too. I have to say, when I tried out the K-7, I found the photos at ISO100 and 200 to look softer than my K10D's ones, lacking a certain crispness that I'm used to. I've taken some shots with the K-5, and ISO100 shots look nice and crisp to me.

Off Topic: Would I actually get anything for my K200 now that would make it worth selling on? It's still a superb camera but the WR and high iso of the K5 is very, very tempting.....
