As some of you know I had a new addition to the family a few weeks back. Haven't posted any pics because, well, I've been a bit tired Plus he isn't very photogenic at the moment due to a large patch of cradle cap right on his forehead!

Congratulations Tim

That first one reminds me of being asked to snap someones new baby, she thought I was a bit mad when I zoomed in on his tiny hand, then when she got the prints she was over the moon and thought the hand shot was the best of the bunch

Is this your first?

This is number 2 actually My older boy just turned 4 so he's quite into the whole thing.

I was actually quite disappointed by my lousy focussing on the first shot, but it was too dark in there (the recovery room) to use a suitable aperture, and I had no tripod. I've kept the tags though, so I might try it again with 6 week old feet instead of shiny new ones

Congratulations Tim.

A fine set of photos of a fine young man.

Don't worry about the cradle cap. Baby photos should be wrinkles, birthmarks, cradle cap and all - if only to embarrass them when they bring their girlfriend/boyfriend home when they are older .

Theres nothing wrong with these Tim, OK theyre not technically perfect but they dont need to be, these are family album shots and I for one dont want to see clinical (excuse the pun) "portraits" in a family album. otherwise you may as well just bundle up the kids and take them down to the shopping mall for some PixiPhotos every year.

Are PixiPhoto still going???

Hehee, thinking rationally about it I know you're right, but our first one was such a beautiful baby (with cradle cap where it is supposed to be on top of his head!) that I feel bad taking photos of number 2 when he's going through this Freddie Kruger phase

Look at it this way - you'll never get his time back again. He is as he is - and you are proud of him no matter what. Take some great photos of him.

My second and third were definitely no oil paintings but that didn't stop me taking hundreds of photos of them. The first was a good looking baby, nicely round head no weird markings. Tthe other two were monsters - huge babies with blotches and squashed heads and all sorts of things. Even I couldn't call them beautiful.

Luckily they grew up to be very handsome.

Congratulations I like the third best. Our two came out looking like chimps. They improved.

Don't apologise Tim: these are lovely. You'll have to feed us regular updates of the baby. They change so rapidly. I've just been reading a nice illustrated article about baby photography in one of the monthly magazines.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks for all the reassurances folks. My wife and I have been making nervous jokes about troll babies for the last 6 weeks, it's nice to have some confirmation that he will in face become more attractive at some point.

Congratulations Tim! I wish my parents had been keen photographers, the only photo of me my Dad still has apart from a few faded family shots is of me passed out on some steps after drinking too much beer when I was about 16.
