Yes, he definitely has, Pentax were then the leading camera maker of SLRs iirc, and all the press used them, or was it still the big plate cameras?
In the 70s, Pentax were ahead of all the rest.
It's typical of AP to be technically, shall we say, hit or miss. Last month in the AskAP section, a reader asked about sensor sizes and the 'expert' stated that Pentax APS-C sensor is the smallest APS-C out of Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony. A cursory look at the manufacturers sites would show the 'expert' to be talking out his hat. I presume they get them from Jessops.

I don't really see the likes of the PEN doing much harm to smaller DSLR sales, as for what you get they seem rather overpriced to me. Very elegant certainly, but not that much smaller than a K-x with the right lens fitted and the K-x gives you more options.
I bought an EVIL - a Panasonic GF-1. Yes - I have also ordered sackcloth and ashes from SRS to do pennance. I do have to say that they aren't overpriced as I've been using it almost exclusively for the last 2 months as a travel camera, and the quality is astounding - even at very high ISO. I've got some amazing candid portraits and general interest shots. No worse than the K20D. As the only things that it does worse are manual focus and seeing exposure settings quickly - I really do believe they will eat heavily into the beginner DSLR market.

Just a view from the edge tho' - others may draw different conclusions.

Hi,

I pop onto SRS website quite frequently - they are damn good and I like to see what new Sigma gear for Pentax is available (and yes I own a Panasonic GF-1 EVIL so SRS do me fine with stuff for that too).

The q is - has anyone else noticed the SRS website giving invalid certificate errors? Or is it just me? Seems to be IE only - FF is happy with it.

A belated welcome too. I've found this forum to be invaluable for selling and buying equipment and just lurking to see how other people do 'that photo thing'.

I do like the videos, but please for goodness sake, why do people think 'cool' equates to 'requires heavy rock/guitar track'.

After recently taking the plunge with a Sigma 70 - 200mm f2.8 MKI and being blown away by the improvement over my other lenses I am thinking of getting a 24 - 70mm ish fast lens as well.

Has anyone got any recomendations?
The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 HSM is fairly much permanently on one of my bodies. I love it.

Thanks for the info - the price is definately interesting. Helps with incessant lens changing to have a second decent body. You have PM (in 2 mins once I compose)
