which is why he got banned from the depressing review site - gained quite a reputation in the process too !

So the cashback K5 Offer has now ended.

Where do you think prices will go now? As a general rule, prices drop by £100-£200 after the camera;s been around for about 4 months.

Are you waiting to buy? I've been on the point of it several times!

Well you could compare with the trend for the K-7 http://www.camerapricebuster.com/Pentax_K-7_Body_pc.html
- note that this site doesn't include all reputable dealers e.g. I've not seem park cameras quoted here and srs didn't use to be

their K5 price comparison is still under construction, not bad - for the K20 it took them about 6months to include it.

I've just taken the plunge on a K5 to replace my K10, the price is a bit steep compared to when I bought my K10 (blame GBP:YEN) and I (my wallet) would much prefer wait a few months until the price dropped and probably buy in the summer. But with little one just learning to crawl and dim interiors due to grey skies I've decided to go for it otherwise I'll miss the opportunity. I just hope the high ISO performance is all it's cracked up to be, and damn those grips are expensive, how do I wangle one of those too ???

Hi folks
just idle curiosity, I note that the AF540FGZ has a 645 setting, presumably for film format 645 cameras, anyone know if this would be suitable for use with the 645D, or would you need to send the gun to pentax to update the firmware ?

so as of 14/12/10 we have at least 11 silkypix users, the majority of whom (7/11) are DSPro users

I hear on another forum that shortcutinc - the US distributor - has recently stopped selling silkypix.

It seems ISL wish to control it all from home base again, probably save them money avoiding the distributors cut.

So do I have DS4 now then?!!
It would seem so..... I haven't got the full retail version to see
if anythings missing? I suppose I could DL a demo, but it means
a lot of installing and uninstalling. Seems to work quite well
though I tried recovering an overexposed shot and it was quite
usable.
you could cross check against the feature set of the full versions here :
http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/english/upgrade_details.html

If it's a trimmed or bundled version then I suspect it's most likely not to be able to process a batch of files in one go, in which case it could be an SE version, but I'm not familiar with that one, so can't be sure

http://www.isl.co.jp/SILKYPIX/english/p/#product says
>The following cameras are currently compatible with "SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE Version."
-Panasonic
-The camera which you purchased. <

which suggests bundled software might be the SE version

The Samsung Raw Converter 2 that came with my GX20 seems to be a rebadged version of DS3. It claims to be based on the Silkypix product but looks like the full package. I doubt I'll be "outgrowing" it any time soon.

Ahah, bound to happen I said to myself when setting this up, I'll miss one category of poll answer...

I wasn't aware that Samsung had provided what looks like a full up version of silkypix DS3, kudos to them. I haven't seen a screenshot of it anywhere to be able to compare.

May I suggest Samsung Raw Converter users add their answer to the "other" option for the poll, it will keep all the Samsungers together and I doubt there will be many "other" entries otherwise.

cheers and thanks for pitching in

Hi folks,

I don't consider PPL or DCU4 to be real silkypix but there's no harm including it here as I guess it may be the first people have heard of silkypix and I wonder if some people are put off using DS4 or DSPro by the PPL or DCU4 gui - I've used PPL myself, I haven't seen what DCU4 looks like, only read a few adverse comments on forums and made some assumptions it's like PPL who's gui is somewhat deficient (but processes well enough).

disclaimer : I confess to being a DSPro user myself but don't have any shares in ISL

It's a shame, it was very helpful to have an english speaking contact, and as a silkypix pro user I'm a little concerned about how future support queries will be answered. I've just made a note to myself to make sure I have a copy of the licence number easily to hand and update my copy to the latest issue before the end of the year. Think I'll make a copy of any useful tips and tweaks etc from the forum too.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news

PS I did a search for silkypix here and didn't find anything, so apologies if this is a repeat of something I've missed.
