The Future of K5 Prices

The best time to buy any camera body is when it's being phased out. Prices will be around 50-60% of launch and any bugs should have been ironed out with firmware updates etc.
I'd like a K-5 but I'll wait until everyone's drooling over the K-3 before parting with my cash...

I was planning to buy sooner rather than later but think I'll follow hefty on this one. Meanwhile I have my FED2 to keep me happy, and I have a Jupiter-12 35mm lens on the way to go with it.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Well you could compare with the trend for the K-7 http://www.camerapricebuster.com/Pentax_K-7_Body_pc.html
- note that this site doesn't include all reputable dealers e.g. I've not seem park cameras quoted here and srs didn't use to be
their K5 price comparison is still under construction, not bad - for the K20 it took them about 6months to include it.
I've just taken the plunge on a K5 to replace my K10, the price is a bit steep compared to when I bought my K10 (blame GBP:YEN) and I (my wallet) would much prefer wait a few months until the price dropped and probably buy in the summer. But with little one just learning to crawl and dim interiors due to grey skies I've decided to go for it otherwise I'll miss the opportunity. I just hope the high ISO performance is all it's cracked up to be, and damn those grips are expensive, how do I wangle one of those too ???

... US prices are 1:1 with Euro or GBP ones....
and besides, if Pentax can't deliver for two weeks, that's a sign that K5s are in great demand. Considering they knew about the K5 capabilities and will have ramped up production pretty damned fast.
Oh, and prices are still solid around the globe, too.

I'm going to wait for the K-1 full frame body with dual card slots, WiFi & GPS built-in, together with all the other must-have goodies that'll be included at the time.
Then I'll buy a K3 to replace my K20D's. I might only have to wait about 5 years considering the development speed of DSLR's nowadays.

I'll definitely be buying the K5 but I'm not in any rush at the moment, once sales slow following the cashback period ending prices will inevitably fall - I'm watching closely !!

Same here, no great hurry, but I'd like to see it under £900 before buying. I could buy now, but I want a new lens as well, so hopefully any drop will help cover that cost and not break my finances, and Pentax will still end up getting my brass one way or another!

K5s were promised for the start of this week. They are now expected start of next week. Ergo: Pentax can't keep up with demand.....

That's why I said. So when it dropped to £899 (inc cashback) I ordered mine on 3rd of January. Had it for 6 days and apart from the dreaded front focussing at low light fault I love it to bits.

I guess as long as demand outstrips supply the price isn't going to move much!
I have been on the brink and SO close to ordering - to the point of phoning one camera dealer who didn't get an order because they told be to go to the website and another who misunderstood a comment and put the phone down!
With all this cloud and dull weather I'm desperate to move on from my K10D. Soon as it gets nearer £800 I shall join the club!

They are still paying the cash back on all the orders placed before the 15th, My order went in on the 5th Jan and I thought it would have been with me now.
