Hi folks
can anyone recommend backup software please....

I have Windows XP PC, which I will replace with a windows 7 pc shortly (self build)
The XP PC has a two 500Gb HDD in mirrored raid and two 1TB HDD in mirrorer raid.

I want to backup all my files from internal HDDs (not the system drive) to an external one I'm about to buy. Then I want to plug the external drive into my new PC and use it as a backup drive.

I would something which will do an auto backup at an interval I define and also the facility to backup al my software from the system drive.

I don't want cloud backups, facility to backup laptop across wireless network could be useful.

I've been looking at acronis true image, paragon backup and recovery free, and easeus todo backup free. Not sure what best suits my needs.

Any recommendations ?

thanks for looking

cheers

Richard

SO, anyone aiming to buy a 16-85 DA* when it's out, assuming it will be around £750 ?

Me = yes (assuming the bonus comes in / I can sell some lenses)

Do you really want to do that anyway?
Yes, stuff moves ! And it's a right pain not being able to refocus during movie shots except by MF

No, even if it did, it would be noisy as most Pentax lenses AF are still body driven
I think the noise could in principle be cancelled out using signal processing techniques, especially for the SDM.

Hi folks
lost touch a bit with the news on the lens roadmap, forum search didn't reveal anything, so wonder if someone can help...

I seem to remember there was a DA*16-85 on the plan for 2013, and a teleconverter too.

Any news on these ? The DA* would be top of my list for next lens for the collection.

cheers

I bought mine for about £250 new a few years ago. I suspect these are a small number of unsold stock from the back of a warehouse somewhere, as it is not on the Pentax roadmap. I doubt it is production any more.

At that price it is my second most valuable lens now (after the 60-250 - for which I also paid rather less than the current price)
I too bought mine at about that price, around when the FA50 was going for £150 (still kicking myself for not buying that one!).

I guess it could be unsold stock, looks like quite a markup if it is.

I shall have to look after mine even more carefully now

I think all of the lenses I have are 'in profit' at present, this one by the biggest margin tho ! Not for sale thought, I always have it with me for shooting landscapes, I find the colour and sharpness excellent - still fancy an FA31 one day if I can spare the cash !!

Hi folks
not been here for quite a while, although was frequent contributor a couple of years ago.
Looking at lens prices after a quick read about the new DA560 and was utterly stunned to see the price of the FA35/2 in FA Ltd territory, WHAAAT!!!, my mrs jumped and nearly fell off the sofa, looked at me and asked what was wrong.

It's a good lens, a poor man's FA31, but not anymore at £690 park cameras, £619 at srs.

What's going on - the ricoh effect ?
