I seem to be getting a lot of noise with my K7 at ISO 400 or above on any exposures more than about 1/2 second, and a fair bit on anything at ISO 200 on longer exposures. Is this inherent in the camera, or am I doing something wrong? Also does anyone have any recommendations for noise reduction? I am using Noise Ninja, but have to use auto-profile as there is no profile for the K7.

Apologies couldn't seem to edit this post: my pic was taken last night (30/03/10) on a K7, 18-55 WR lens at 55mm, 3 exposures at f8, 4 seconds (resting on my trusty bean-bag!),iso 200 merged in Photoshop.

You can alter the size of the text by pasting it into a new layer (you can copy the text from a Word document)after selecting the text tool. Just click the cursor where you want the writing to start, paste the text, then use the transform tool (CS4: I am guessing cS2 is the same) to get the size you want. You can also highlight the text to change font or size, then hit enter to change it. The advantage of this method is you can use the move arrow to move the text around the picture and see where you want it. Also, if you want the text to be fainter, with the backgound showing through, change the blend mode to soft light and change the opacity until it looks how you want (black text seems to work best for this). When you are happy, flatten the image. I have a text Word file I keep just for this.

Beautiful shots, look like hdr... what is contrast masking? The colours look ok to me, apart from the green, which looks a bit like plastic. I would love to see these shots processed normally.. the reflections are amazing.

Road rail or ship? Now that sounds dangerous! Aviation is certainly a lot safer since the days of the Dak! Years ago I flew one in Africa spraying locusts and despite romantic notions of days gone by, it was a pig in a cross-wind and the engines shed important parts fairly regularly. Not to mention the huge puddles of oil it left on the apron and the fatiguing vibration, the total lack of ergonomics in it's design and the uncomfortable seats...
