I am moving to Qatar tomorrow for three years . Unemployment has finally ended after three months on the dole! Will still be on here regularly, and Mrs aliengrove (Aurora-B) will be in the UK for another three weeks. However, not sure how long it will take to get internet set up, so may be absent for a while! See you all soon!

Rgds,
Jon

That was quick! Yes, unfortunately the airline business here is not too good at the moment so I am off to pastures new!

I'm flying to Hong Kong in a few days. I hope my pilot doesn't spend all his time snapping pics out of the window!

Just kidding! Given your hobby that must be a brilliant job, lots of new sights, pretty much all the time! Or do you always fly to the same place?

Thanks Huw, best wishes too! I don't think I will be taking as many snaps as I used to at work, it's bit of a step up for me and will have to mind my p's and q's a bit more than I used to. I have usually used a compact at work, it's a bit less obtrusive, been looking upgrading my compact to a Canon G11 (no Pentax equivalent unfortunately!) for just that purpose! However, I'll still be going all over the world, so plenty of opportunity to use the K7!

Jon

It's the cloud shots that give it away. What a place to have your office, eh?

I love the Kelvin–Helmholtz one.

The Kelvin_helmholtz one is going to be in a book about waves soon, by Gavin Pretor-Pinney, founder of the Cloud Appreciation Society, of which I am a fully paid up member!

Congratulations on the new job, and I love the Kelvin-Helmholtz shot. I also love the chap that said:

good photo quality, as I believe it is taken through a window/cockpit. Good observation too.
No s... Sherlock! I never ceased to be amazed at the human ability to state the bleedin' obvious.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Good luck in the sandpit AG I did three years in Saudi back in the nineties at the recommendation of my bank manager.

Some of your worst moments on a flightdeck may be my handiwork - see if you can guess what I do

My survival tip - stick with the Aussies and the Irish. Much more fun than most of the Brits.

Best wishes from Wirral Jon - getting back into the work ethic is a great feeling - I should know after 40 odd years in the uncertainty of catering and hotelkeeping.

Hope all goes well and look forward to some exciting home thoughts from abroad on screen.
