third choice...70-200WR f4 for about £750-£850.
I'd buy the first one of those that came along.

I understand you doing it just for the experience but you'd have thought a huge multinational company like P&O could have afforded to 'pay' for the images wouldn't you? Stingy lot.
That water must be deep so close to shore to be able to take a liner that size.

Nice shots Al, I do like vintage transport.
I particularly like the white coloured mine clearance vehicle being driven in reverse (no.4)

and recently Chirk castle...very pleased with it in those environments which would mimic the old winding streets you describe David.
If I could choose one lens that i didn't own then it would almost certainly be the 16-85WR.

Very effective treatment to the sky and clouds, and the sunlight is terrific...very well done.

Was great for interior shots at a National Trust property...handheld and no flash and is excellent for outdoor landscapes...with one proviso...you definitely need something in the foreground to lend interest or lead the eye (at 10-12mm) otherwise shots can be a bit disappointing...but this will be the same with any equivalent focal range.
I won't be selling mine (used on a K-50), so I suppose that is the acid test.
