Very original Derek. Looks like there's a beast/demon encapsulated in No.2

No...a deafening silence.

Doesn't bode well in my opinion.

How complicated or expensive can it be to bring a new 50mm to market? Given there must be a sizeable K-1 ownership by now, many of whom would be likely customers...not exactly high risk.

Just about every other OEM is bringing out product on a regular basis. If there's nothing announced at the trade fairs in september for pre Christmas retail then I suspect a lot of Pentax devotees will be getting more than a bit twitchy.

Really good Jarek, your wife obviously had an eye for a great composition.

A spell on the Mach Loop in Mid Wales is mainly hours of inactivity punctuated by a few minutes here and there of excitement (if you're lucky). One way of filling the time...

1. Sales of Pop-Up Tents must have mushroomed lately.

Nice shots. I have never done proper aircraft in flight shots, the first is just stunning. Must visit this place at some point, as a minor aviation fan I really should.

Is there any website that you would recommend to get an idea of when is a good time and place to go ?
Any weekday when the weather for mid Wales is dry with little or no cloud is your best bet. If you can avoid schools hols parking will be easier and fewer people on location. Thursday there were well over 100 people on both sides of the road at Cad West/East for most of the day...not enough parking for everyone so some people parked half on the road...apparently the police are giving out tickets now if blocking the highway.

Update: As of August 4th the 4x JCB AA 2400mAh NiMh I had in K-50 ran out.

They were in camera for virtually 3 weeks and lasted for 435 shots in total, over 5 separate sessions...so not bad really...probably 50:50 manual and auto focus.

Yes, having searched on Smooth Newt i'm fairly certain that's what it is. Decades ago there used to be ponds in this immediate area before the houses were built, we occasionally get frogs even though to the best of my knowledge there aren't any ponds left.

Thanks to you both for responding.

Hopefully this one won't become an owl snack.

Opened my front door the other night to bring some stuff in that i'd left out and noticed this little chap by the doorstep under the porch...was only about 2" (5 cms) nose to tail. Dashed back to get my camera with lens already attached half expecting him to have run off...he hadn't so i took two shots quickly using built in flash (first flash usage with this camera in two years!). Didn't want to scare it by taking more pics with flash.

Anyway, i'm assuming its a sand lizardy thing? Can anyone confirm?

Cheers
