On the subject of large prints and viewing distances are there 'recommended' viewing distances for a given size of print assuming wall hung. I know with large screen TVs its supposed to be so many times the screen diagonal etc. I appreciate that domestic lighting or lack of may affect things as well.

Thanks Andy and Steve for your comments/info. I've bookmarked that link for future reference.

What I can't quite understand is the apparent secrecy about this info..almost as though the consumer shouldn't be allowed the information. Why not make it easy for anyone to access this info on an official government site rather than have to rely on third party sites which may or may not be up to date. It could prove an expensive mistake if you get it wrong.

Useful information steven9761. Are telephoto lenses longer than 150mm taxed more punitively and if so what is the rationale behind this?

Does the HMRC provide an online listing of all relevant codes and tariffs for photographic equipment, particularly camera bodies and lenses and does the charge vary dependant on the region it originates from? For example is it a different rate to inport from Japan compared to South Korea or Australia or the US. It would be useful having access to this information from a single reference source.

It's not that the image won't post per se John, the box that allows you to identify and highlight the required image in the first place just isn't present at all. There is no way of selecting your image as the means to do so are not there.

I'll have another try tomorrow morning some time and see if anything has changed.

thanks.

21:00 tuesday night...tried several times to start a new forum topic under 'Your Photos'...allows me to enter the title, and description of first image but when you click on 'image' to access image from computer nothing happens ...it just 'hangs'.

I've done this many times in the past so know it isn't me. The site seems extremely unreliable since its change a few months ago. I've had to download a completely different version of my browser just to get PU to work these past few weeks. ePhotozine has just stopped working on my older browser as well even though every other site i visit works fine using the older (as in 'classic') version which I prefer.

Need to get to the bottom of this John...it will be driving people away from the site as it seems to be happening a lot..ultimately the site won't make any money from 'pay per click' and will fold.

Mike,

great set of pics as usual. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the new lens. Interesting comment about the SR. I took quite a few shots with the SR both on and off on my K50...I ended up with whole batches of very OOF shots ...haven't had chance yet to examine the EXIF data to see whether a pattern has developod that might account for these..admitedly some of them were because I forgot to make minor changes to focus when I was doing it manually. My first airshow with the K50 so i did tend to try all sorts of permutations to see how it managed with each.

Hopefully by next year i'll have upgraded my main airshow lens.

cheers

Some great shots there George...looked like a lot of fun with some very interesting cars. Know what you mean about experimenting with slow speeds whilst panning...something i've tried a few times with the go-karts...very satisfying when you get it right.

Love the creative shot that is No.3. If I had to pick a favourite on the track it would definitely be No.7. I also really liked your late entry...No.25..I know how technically demanding that was to get right.

Cheers

Some cracking shots there Bill...as others have said you have set a very high standard. My personal favourites are No.12 and No.6 in that order. My least favourite (relatively speaking) is low contrast No.5...a bit too subtle and bland for me..but quite an arty shot regardless.

I hope Ricoh/Pentax have found the whole 'Ambassador' thing to have been a success and continue it again this year...and if it was up to me i'd let you keep the camera and lens!

cheers
