Q and Q7
Hi, I've only used the original Q but Q7 with larger sensor is reviewed in detail on this site.

Q and Q7
Because the Q7 has a bigger sensor but still uses the same lenses the coverage is consequently a little bit bigger. As the owner of both a Q and and a Q7 I have found this occasionally advantageous. Certainly with the 01 prime I can take a smart-phone type hand-held selfie with the Q7 that I c...

Q-S1
I like the look of the new Q-S1, so soon I'll be ordering one to up the size of the sensor to the same as the excellent MX-1. I've just been looking at the colour options, and this time I think I'll order gunmetal and green. I think that looks pretty fantastic, so might as well have something cus...

Q-S1
If I had the money I'd like an MX-2 with a faster image processor, a larger sensor (like the new Lumix compact), no tilting screen and a viewfinder. But I haven't and they don't make one anyway.

Q-S1
And there we have it. The reason for the upgrade was basically to take advantage of the slightly larger sensor, which is the same size as the well proven MX-1. The reason for the colour was that Sue bought it for me as an Anniversary present, so it seemed appropriate to customise it. It doesn't cost...

dreaming again..
I'm not sure where Pentax went wrong with the mirrorless concept, but I am also NOT guessing when I clearly state it's also most likely not the end of the series for that particular camera. Let me be a bit more specific about what I know up to this point. We're not stating anything relating to th...

Sensor Cleaning
HI There I hope someone can help me. I am thinking of getting a Q10 as the price is so good at the moment and wondered how often the sensors need cleaning and where do people get it done? As there is no mirror it must pick up quite a bit of dust and as it is such a small sensor it must be...

Sensor Cleaning
If any dust was picked up then it would certainly be large compared to the size of the sensor. The saving grace is that the sensor is easily reached and a quick blow with a rocket blower should be all it needs. I have been using the original Q for some time now and only once got a dust speck. The...

Quality Prints from the Q-S1
Good luck John. I'd love to see those big prints. It's remarkable how sensor design and, I suppose, in-camera processing has come on in recent years.

Re: Pentax mirrorless
PS. How many people have taken how many photos over ISO 25,000? Just interested:wink: I have. :) I'd also take a lot more if the dynamic range was a lot greater. In fact there's a 12MP sensor capable of such, I'm just waiting for pentax to make use of it. :)

Re: Pentax mirrorless
This video from Philip Bloom is worth a watch with regards to the above mentioned sensor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1W-bPyYR0k He also has an accompanying indepth review of the A7S. It's pretty remarkable what the sensor can do. I doubt whether Sony will be allowing other manufacturers to...

Q and solar eclipse
The sun will burn the sensor just as surely as sunlight concentrated by a magnifying glass will burn a piece of paper.

Q and solar eclipse
I wasn't about to risk frying my sensor with my 300mm if it came through fully. This is a crop at 135mm using the 18 - 135 DA WR Fascinating how birds react as if it's time to settle down for night. You did well there, Bill! I think a little light cloud actually makes a more interesting pho...

Continues to Amaze
I don't want to bore folks by banging on about the MX-1... again, but I had to show you this picture of a street musician performing in the old Jewish quarter in Girona. I took the shot more in hope than expectation that it would be any good: the ultra high dynamic range was pure K5 territory but w...

Continues to Amaze
Beats me why there was never an MX-2. Imagine a 1" sensor, a faster processor, touch-screen and viewfinder. I hope Pentax/Ricoh are reading this and doing something now to make it a reality soon. Cheers. Philip P.S. Great image, Andrew.

Still liking my K-01!
Thanks, I was looking for a white 35mm at a good price for ages, found one from Japan eventually. Ok it's a pure vanity and LBA thing BUT its got a noticeably wider angle of view than the 40mm, and 50mm optical viewfinders are far more common than 40mm. It attracts interest from "non photogra...

Still liking my K-01!
EBay, I am a keen Ebay user for photo gear, buying and selling. This viewfinder is an expensive genuine Leica model which is really for Leica cameras with a 50mm lens. They go for around £100. Any model of viewfinder would do, but most are for 35mm film full frame cameras. Because my K-01 with...

Q7 at capping ceremony how the ?
There's definitely merit in opting for a larger sensor camera, if the lighting levels are not expected to be particularly high.

Whích Q ?
I would echo a lot of the comments already mentioned. Had the original Q and sold this as I'd got a Q7. Build quality is not the same (although used to it now) but the IQ is better and if you like to tinker with your shots in post processing, even a bit of cropping for a better composition th...
