It was a difficult process for Chris as it only became clear after some discussion with Pentax that the only option for these is a kit with the 5-15mm zoom. The other lens options on the Ricoh website are only to show how the cameras look with various lenses.

In the end I was torn between gunmetal and black, asked for gunmetal but got black, but it doesn't matter because it was a 50/50 choice anyway. I like it.

The next order will be a piece of cake for Chris as he now knows what needs to be done to make it easier!

And there we have it. The reason for the upgrade was basically to take advantage of the slightly larger sensor, which is the same size as the well proven MX-1. The reason for the colour was that Sue bought it for me as an Anniversary present, so it seemed appropriate to customise it. It doesn't cost any more, it just takes a little longer.

The packaging is excellent, with a proper printed outer box rather than the recycled style of some models. Leads, battery and, most importantly to me, charger unit are all included. In other words, no corners cut and all presented properly.

I've just set up my preferences on the camera and all was sweet. Buttons are smooth, shutter release as soft as the original, finish impeccable. As it's a Q it's already quite familiar, so all I need to do now is get out there and shoot some images. That's scheduled for Sunday at South Lakes Wild Animal Zoo, so I'll post some results very soon.

I have a Q which I've barely used since acquiring the MX-1, because the IQ is so much better, but I'm missing the ability to change lenses and the viewfinder.

No, but there is the clip on finder, which is brilliant for use with the 01 prime lens.

I'm assuming the Q viewfinder fits.......
