Q7 Review up...
I think the original Q holds a bit more charm, I had one for a while and it was a lovely tactile bit of kit. Image quality not the best, but for small prints or web viewing it was fine, plus it was small enough to always have with you, and the user-friendliness made you want to shoot. It's a curi...

Q7 Review up...
The larger sensor size does seem to provide a noticeable upgrade in IQ. It is 50% larger! But I agree, I much prefer the look of the original Q... not sure why they felt they needed to change it.

GR with a K mount...
But they did. The first try out was a design one, the I-10, presumably to see if the retro look appealed. The full version is the Pentax Q, with all its tiny interchangeable lenses. It has to be different in shape to accommodate the screen and sensor assemblies, but the ethos of it is the same as...

K-01 fault
I know John. Not happy. I know it is not SRS fault, just an issue with the design. I may actually go direct to Johnsons in this instance, as they are a mere 35 miles away, as in reality I was hoping to have the K-01 as backup for a job I am doing the end of next week. Timing is awful!!!! :( If I ca...

K-01 fault
Thanks for that John. It is a point worth mentioning. Hopefully Chris will give me the details, as it is only 6 months since purchase. My only concern is the time span. The Last time I sent a Pentax camera back via a retailer, it took 3 weeks.....Mind you it was old Jessops and my K20D for a replace...

External viewfinder GV-1
External viewfinder GV-1 http://shop-uk.ricoh-imaging.eu/external-mini-viewfinder-gv-1.html Am I right in thinking that the frame lines on this at 21/28mm equate to roughly 31 and 40mm lenses (As in thaey are the focal lengths I would use on an APSC sensor camera?) Had about two hours sleep a...

MX-1 discontinued?
Blimey I hope not. I've set my heart on one and am just waiting for the price to fall within my reach. It's a long wait. The trouble is, they'll launch an even better MX-2 with a viewfinder and a larger sensor. Such is the march of progress.

Advice please on Q10
My wife and I are going to South Africa for 3 weeks in March. She has not used a camera in years (last had a Kodak Instamatic about 20 years ago). We were in Worcester yesterday and went into the local LCE and were shown the Sony HX50 and the Pentax Q10 with the 5-15mm lens. I was quite impressed ...

Advice please on Q10
Yes, the MX-1 is well worth consideration. It isn't a super zoom but its lens is good quality. The sensor is larger than the one in the Q10, in fact the same size as that on the new Q7 - have you considered one of those?

K5 chip in a small camera
Something smaller than the Pentax K01 is not possible if keeping the Pentax PK lenses. From the lens mount to the sensor actually needs to remain that distance, it can literally never be reduced. People hoping to see the reduced size and then keeping PK will never see it. Although it would be great ...

K5 chip in a small camera
Once we stray away from the Pentax bodies, we lose one of the nicest Pentax features, that wonderful colour reproduction. I do understand that from time to time we could feel tempted by a fantastic array of alternative makes, but every time I've come back to Pentax. The GR is a great camera, but ...

K5 chip in a small camera
[quote:3496ace15f="andrewjlennon5"]If Pentax/Ricoh don't make the camera for you, buy another (there will be trade-offs - some of which may bite you later), but I'd have to ask why a Fuji X series (with or without a 'really thin prime') would be better than a GR? As a Fuji X owner my reasons for cho...

Q 06 telephoto zoom
Brilliant images, it's an exciting and versatile system. It is indeed. Perhaps people are now realising just how good this little camera is. Any comparisons between the original Q and the Q7? (Larger sensor)

Q with 15-45
That's the standard 'kit' lens for that system isn't it? I've been pretty darn impressed with what I've seen of the Q concept. A few questions if I may: Is there much of a difference in practise between the original Q/Q10 and the newer Q7? (Almost double the cost in some cases). and for g...

Q with 15-45
No, it isn't the standard, the 15 - 45 is the Telephoto zoom ( multiply by 5.5 for the 35mm equivalent) and the 5-15 is this standard zoom. The Q has a smaller sensor than the MX1 which has the same sensor as the Q7.

Q10 or MX1?
The MX-1 is more of an all purpose camera, being able to deal with everything from 1cm macro through to a good zoom range, plus a wide aperture. The Q7 has the same spec of sensor, but you will need extra lenses to make the most of it. There's a place for both, depending on what you want to a...

Q10 or MX1?
The thought of introducing even a small speck onto the Q7's little sensor fills me with horror. I know fixed lens cameras cab suck in dust via the zoom lens but it's less prevalent. I love my MX-1. It's not perfect but so versatile and, providing you keep the ISO below 400, produces richly detail...

Q10 or MX1?
From my experience, it's the MX-1 lens that makes it shine. The Q is tinier, feels extremely nice, and the Q7 sensor is probably the same as the MX-1's (i.e. bigger than the Q or Q10). The Q02 5-15mm lens just doesn't cut it compared to the MX-1. The Q01 8.5mm prime handles well, but isn't as ...
