Thanks, I was looking for a white 35mm at a good price for ages, found one from Japan eventually.

Ok it's a pure vanity and LBA thing BUT its got a noticeably wider angle of view than the 40mm, and 50mm optical viewfinders are far more common than 40mm.

It attracts interest from "non photographers" especially in all white, and seems to appeal to some women as 'cool looking' so the Marc Newson design idea DOES work for some people, just not for conservative minded photography enthusiasts.

Also that 16MP sensor is outstanding, and both with the 40mm and 35mm it helps make great sharp good looking images.

I still like my K-01 too! There's something special about the way it renders images and I can live with its many foibles because of this.

David, do you find that with any lens or a specific one?

Hi Graham

I particularly like the K-01 with my M50mm F1.4, but it also produces superb results with more modern lenses, e.g. XS40mm F2.8, Samsung 12-24 and Sigma 17-70. I suspect that with AF lenses, although the contrast detection AF is slow, it avoids the focussing errors that phase detection can introduce, so I am seeing results from all my AF lenses perfectly focussed, which probably isn't the case on my K-5iis or K-3.

I really like the results I get with older telephoto lenses in wildlife shooting. The focus peaking is a great tool when using manual focus lenses. I always wear a hat while shooting so the screen is always in the shade of my hat and seems clear and contrasty.

Where did you purchase the viewfonder?

EBay, I am a keen Ebay user for photo gear, buying and selling. This viewfinder is an expensive genuine Leica model which is really for Leica cameras with a 50mm lens. They go for around £100.

Any model of viewfinder would do, but most are for 35mm film full frame cameras.

Because my K-01 with its crop sensor has a 35mm lens, that is equivalent to a 50mm lens on a full frame camera-- so-- a 50mm viewfinder
