Servicing/Cleaning for Pentax film cameras
The mirrors can lock up if the battery power fails, but otherwise most of the problems with ME series cameras that I have known have been electronic or film transport. They are very old now.....

Servicing/Cleaning for Pentax film cameras
Sometimes the mirror foam gets sticky and holds the mirror up.

Servicing/Cleaning for Pentax film cameras
The ME's suffer badly from sitting and not being used. There are components in the mechanism that degrade over time and cause the film winding to lock up. It doesn't sound as if yours has this particular issue, it sounds more like sticky foam causing the mirror not to return, but it could also be ...

K-1000
@PRYorkshire Thank you! That's all great to know. I thought about cleaning it but I'm not good with... well, a lot of things, and I'm a little afraid that I might not get it back together, or I might accidentally break something that wasn't broken before. It's happened before with items I was told w...

Coconut oil?
Before spending too much time cleaning I would carry out a few basic checks. Firstly if you don't have one the user manual can be found here:- https://usermanual.wiki/Asahi-Pentax/AsahiPentaxK1000InstructionManual774155.1492674421.pdf Remove the lens if fitted, open the back, set the shutte...

Pentax MX seal and foam replacement
It's actually not that difficult once you get into it, especially for the body-to-door channel foams. I would offer to do it, gratis, but I think I've misplaced the foams I have (read, had) here. I've found that with cleaning out the old foams (lots of toothpicks and isopropanol) and installing th...

Yorkshire meet 28th July 2007
It is an autofocus lens so I don't have to worry about manual focusing perfectly. It is very difficult to get it spot on, even with the AF sensor telling you when it is supposedly in focus.

December Yorkshire meet
Unfortunately, I can't make Monday. Wednesday to Friday is easier but Thursday or Friday would be best. It isn't very easy for me after work as it means getting home at 7 and then going out again after collecting equipment and cleaning up from the 7 mile bike ride. I am going away on Saturday or ...

Glasgow meet 9th April 2011
I don't know if everybody has seen the thread about the current state of my sensor but at this stage it isn't clear whether the cleaning kit I ordered to sort it out will be here in time for me to get it cleaned before the weekend. If not I'm a bit conflicted about whether to come or not because it ...

Got my sensor all fixed up and shiny clean so I'll be seeing you all Saturday for sure. Rhyl Air Show - 29th August
I'm glad it went well for you:D I stood in the shadow of the Vulcan as it passed over on it's return flight - I wasn't expecting that - stood in my overalls cleaning up after some spanner work - it was low slow and loud as it passed overhead :D

Digital imaging software - Which image editing program do you use?
I find that I need multiple programs, depending on what I am tackling. And, like many others, I cannot afford the full PS, as much as I'd like it. Personally, I use Photoshop Elements 2 most of the time for photographic work. I had used PSLE, then PSE1, and am pleased with PSE2. Thankfully, my tw...

Asahi pentax K 1000 - panic ebay buy!!!
Hello people and thank you for your attention to my post! My daughter expressed an interest in an entry level 35mm. I know nothing about cameras and the interest generated in this ebay auction (with 7 secs to bid  ) made me make an impulse buy! It is described as follows :- camera includes...

Pentax discontinuing 35mm SLR?
What a bizarre post. Good optics are just as important for digital as they are for film, so Pentax will continue to make good lenses, albeit for APS-sized sensors. If the market dictates that film cameras should no longer be manufactured, then the consequences will fall on Canon just as much a...

Gossen bisix light meter
Hi John, I used one for a long time until I got the Sixtomat. 1. Turn the center black circle to set the film speed. 2. Make sure the white blind is pulled fully back. 3. Point the meter at the subject and note the reading number at the bottom. 4. Set this against the red triangle and the top...
