Digital Film
it's a neat idea and I hope it works, but unless it's at least an APS-C sensor it's not going to sell. Sensors of the sizes he's talking about will only be any use if he can get them into a 110 cart.

In the video did he not say, if he achieves the right amount of funding, he can fit a sensor equivalent to full frame?

It is all based on economy of scale - the more orders he gets, the bigger the sensor can be! For me the 4/3rds sensor size is of a real interest. The smaller options are not much better than an oversized Q! For once, it seems that we have a chance for a Digital LX, and possibly a full frame Pan...

with an APS-C or larger sensor I'd be tempted, the older cameras with non-crippled mounts work so much better with older glass, not to mention the enjoyment of just using something like an ME-Super or K-1000. It's an experience which is totally different from using a DSLR and a well executed digital...

Not something I'd buy. DSLRs are so efficient that I don't see the point now of making things more difficult. Some years ago when DSLRs were hugely expensive there might have been a point in putting "digital film" in our film SLRs, if the price was right. Now the idea has IMHO been well overtaken. C...

Digital Film
Having watched the video I'm warming to the concept more, but to be worthwhile for me I think it would have to be: a) Reasonably cheap. Yes it would be lovely to use the old MX again in purely clockwork mode with no battery even for meter but the lack of LCD display on camera is sufficient drawbac...

I have put in my pre-order, aware that there is no risk if there are not enough backers, and that it is possible that I will receive a small sensor version if less than 2000 backers are identified. Lets hope we can make this project a reality. You never know, maybe a 110 silicon film might follo...

I think it's a great idea but only with at least an APSC sized sensor and ideally ff. I would want to properly look at the results first too. Until then it's only an idea. So far it has received almost 4% of its fundraising target with not much longer to go. So it will go nowhere. But I wis...

It's a great idea: I'd love to use my Contax 139 again but only with a full-frame sensor to obtain full benefit from my wide-angle lenses. But this sounds too good to be true, sadly.

Fully agree, however without our support this product will never reach market. If we can all prove a market for this ...

Develop film to RAW?
Impossible. Incompatable. Does not compute! RAW is a camera specific format for storing in a purely digital form everything captured by the specific camera sensor, plus a lot of 'metadata' about the settings. It includes an embedded jpeg to allow the image to be seen on the camera LCD and in compute...

Develop film to RAW?
Thanks! I suppose I was imagining the the scanner's sensor could capture RAW in the same way that a camera's one does. But now that you point it out I suppose that even to get to that stage the film must have been developed to negative and so all of those "decisions" (the equivalent of i...

Develop film to RAW?
A RAW file is any file format that stores image data without using lossy compression. The source is unimportant. Not really. RAW is the term used for file formats that come straight as near as possible off the sensor and aren't processed. No one uses the term RAW for a non compressed TIFF or BMP Fi...

I know nothing about photography but I've bought an LX. Help!
Excellent! You've saved yourself ££££'s, you've now got the latest in fashionable looking retro cameras and with a 35mm 'sensor'. I love nothing better than going out with my Pentax MX and 50mm lens, and how cool does it look too! While I'm sure this forum can offer loads and loads of help, my...

I know nothing about photography but I've bought an LX. Help!
It’s a difficult one, I don't think it's difficult at all. Technology and techniques move on. When (not if) film makers stop producing their film, there will once again be no choice for new photographers to learn their craft using the only available medium. As far as I know, the development of film ...

I know nothing about photography but I've bought an LX. Help!
It's not difficult to get average results, beyond that takes a lot of effort/experience/gift etc... I can't point you in the direction of a website, I learned from several books on 35mm photography (probably by Michael Langford), but the basics are fairly easy (it gets more complicated but this i...

Whats the best Pentax manual camera?
I didn't use any Pentax film cameras sadly, :( , but I was always interested in the features and qualities of high end film SLRs, and in the times when they were very expensive, I long wished to possess something like it. My biggest delight therefore when coming to Pentax (after a chance encounte...

job lot!
i have just purchased chemicals and the final bits and pieces to process B&W film I've found it incredibly interesting to see how digital cameras really try to capture B&W; whether it's the camera itself, or in any variation afterwards. I've tried it with more cameras than I would ever want to count...

job lot!
Film remains one of the true B&W mediums that very digitals can touch using 120 film recently makes you realise how good film is - i think digital has made me appreciate film more now. B&W on digital has always been frustrating - the K100d is good - but that sensor is fantastic for most things. m...
