Plymouth Barbican and Citadel midday walk.
Like those, I know Plymouth fairly well, stay at the PI on Sutton Road for business fairly often and eat in one of the pubs on Sutton Harbor and usualy walk it off to Smeaton Lighhouse and then back.

Just a couple of hoverflies
I have been playing with the A series 100mm (dental) macro with auto focus provided by an F series 1.7x AF adapter. The two are made for each other and you end up with a 170mm AF macro lens. It can be difficult to really nail focus when you use the sway backwards and forwards technique. This ensembl...

Just a couple of hoverflies
Excellent shots, I also use the " sway " method of focusing for macro, and that's even before I've had a beer, afterwards nothings in focus !!

SMC Pentax "K" 20mm f/4
[This is a repost of my summary for the "Single in June" challenge for the US fora.] This is the sixth month of using one of my K lenses. As I spent many years shooting slides with just a 28mm and a 50mm lens, I thought that using the 20mm on APS would feel familiar in terms of focal length. I ...

Steam train
It's supposedly coming back tonight around 10.30pm I won't be there waiting ! A night shot could be pretty special - if it is a steam train that is. Maybe take a long telephoto as well, come on you know you want to!

Steam train
Your lack of imagination is astounding Mike - I'm sure you could have used your editing skills to replace the diesel engine with a steam engine from your back catalogue :P

Golden.
#4 makes my eyes go out of focus! I like #3 but I would choose #1 for the rusty old whatever-it-is in the foreground. (There does seem to be a halo around the trees.) Philip

Assignment
An excellent lens (as this image shows) - with only one flaw (IMO), it's size  since I've got the D FA 21mm Limited I don't think I've used mine :( p.s. - don't know the back story, but the message coming over in the photo is one I agree with - we shouldn't be sacrificing our allotments fo...

Making more of the "rusty rollers".
To make more of the rusty rollers as mentioned by Flan in the Gallery, also named as "old junk" by SWMBO I went back (with K1 dfa 28-105 and DA* 11-18mm ) and took pictures with wider lens. Apologies for more wheat fields in HDR. 1. @18mm. f11 2. @ 28mm f8. Similar shot at different foc...

Watching the garden grow .....
That's good - I'm glad you liked them! Thanks for commenting. Gareth - I'm especially pleased you mentioned the rose: that's my favourite - the colour, the delicate petals and the soft focus background, too.

RHS Harlow Carr - yet again! (image heavy)
I think we too often focus on looking for our favourite image(s) when multi image posts are made (guilty  ) but seeing a set such as this shows the wider context as well as specific beauty of individual plants. Lovely set John 8)

The 'bird has flown...
Fascinating! What did you use/do to adjust focus?

The 'bird has flown...
Thanks, folks. JohnX - Adjusting focus was done by moving the camera along a focusing rack. I've got a couple of Novoflex Castel racks, not the cheapest but very good quality. The racks are fitted together as a cross, one arm for sideways motion, one for forward and back. The camera is mounted on...
