Lake District walks (2)
One of my favourites: Whiteside - Hopegill Head - Whiteless Pike - Rannerdale. Good to have a few people around (inc my walking pal, Keith) to help give perspective to the ups and downs etc. 1 Whiteside ascent 2 3 Whiteside ridge 4 A look back ... 5 ... and another ...

A few more Morgans...
I think the Visitor Centre has changed since your visit Peter - it is a lot "posher" now ;) I take my car (not a Morgan) to a small garage that used to be in a building on the side of the Morgan factory. As Morgan expanded they took back the building and my garage has moved round the corner to it...

Pair of Birds I think are Dunnocks.
Thank you for the comments chaps. I do recall the info in your link Steve from a TV program but had not remembered it was the Dunnock. BTW, used the KP and DA* 300 f4. Checked the settings this morning and was shocked the ISO was 3200 and one shot at 2200, I have not taken shots this high before.:s...

A Spring Saturday
Agonising (as usual) over which selection of lenses to take in a walk on the hillside and then down through Great Malvern, it was only when I got back that I realised I had taken all photos with the D FA 21 Limited. I guess most of us have a tendency to feel that our latest toys are the greatest thi...

A Spring Saturday
These are lovely, John! Numbers 2 and 3 are so simple yet so striking with a combination of light and colour that emphasises how attractive "simple" nature photos can be. Ditto 4 and 7, where the focus is spot-on. Right up my street!

Lake District walks (3)
Last of this sequence goes to Little Langdale - a "low level" area I'm not familiar with, but just as appealing as "the tops", I'm sure you will agree. Also has a National Trust site preserving the old slate mines/quarries that gave up so much of the characteristic building material in the Lake Dist...

Madrid walk-about with Lumix S5 and several Pentax/K-mount vintage lenses
A few weeks back I finally got a digital full-frame camera, a mirrorless Panasonic Lumix S5. I did the sums and realised that I could pay for it by selling off a number of lenses I have which I like but which aren't essential, and it seemed like an obvious move for me to make, having always been th...

Ancient English woodlands with Bluebells
wasn't sure about the HDR look on first look - but now I've come back to them (and looked at the larger sizes) it does work for me. The second shot is lovely, maybe I'd be tempted to try to reduce the highlights is the tree branches, but the vibrant leaves and deep bluebells pair up so well 8)

It's raining!
And making it's way up my window to goodness knows where was this small slug. I ended up blending two shots in photoshop to keep it reasonably sharp from head to tail. Pentax K1 + 100mm macro, manual focus.

First images with the 120-400mm
Sigma 120-400 Had the Sigma for a while but found the Af somewhat erratic on moving subjects sometimes even on large birds like herons that are relatively slow and pendulous in flight Also in static conditions, if light wasn’t optimum it was randomly but unquestionably unsharp on times Neve...

Some Motorbikes old and some not so old.
Oh, man, that Rudge took me back a while. A friend of mine had an old one in his dad's garage, no engine just the frame and wheels. We would wheel it out of the garage and then ride, (actually, coast) hell for leather down the hill hoping we could stop it before it went into the woods. Did I ment...

2 'street' portraits
I had exactly the same thoughts about the footwear. Goes to show - always make sure your shoes are clean - photographers (at least) notice! I wish I could drop to one knee though. When I do, it always puts great strain on the tripod and even more getting back up again. Fortunately, it's a carbon fib...

Thanks David. Not too good about the getting back up though.

County Sligo (1)
We had a lovely trip to visit family back in March and some good weather, too. Coastal walks are at the northern end of the Wild Atlantic Way. Being coastal, there's not always a lot of variety in what's to be seen, but it's still a lovely part of Ireland. All taken with K1 + FA 28-105. Do feel free...

Nice day so out playing with the 10 stopper again.
K1 and 28-105mm D-FA WR with CPL and a ten stopper, manual mode f11 mostly and around 4 to 8 seconds. All C & C's welcome :) 1. 2. 3. 4. This one I focus stacked not that it really required it but it slightly improved the far rock sharpness, using Enfuse on Linux.

beez's in flight
Really like these :D. Agree with others - the last one stands out for me. But if the 3rd one were cropped to remove the in-focus flower heads sticking up from the bottom edge (which I find distracting), it would be up there with the last one. Can bees sense when a flower has been 'harvested' and ...

Cornwall through a soft focus lens
Last week I went to Cornwall armed with just my K1 and the SMC 85mm SOFT (thanks Lennybloke), plus extension tubes. This 30 year old lens allows variable soft focus between F2.8 and f8.0 and for soft focus flowers I find the optimum is F4.5, whilst reducing the aperture below F8.0 results in nice s...
