Leave of absence

Dear All, thanks for the very belated wishes (I left in July) and the slightly less belated welcome back (I got back in September!). The dig, is, sadly over: The revival this thread was due to my starring role in "Terry Jones' Barbarians": That was filmed in 2005 when odd cow b...

Here is one escaping from the hospital: Ah Kris, I think it was the asylum (it's OK, I can't read Rumenian either) - and the cow was trying to get back in... :D :D :D

Run them both through Neatimage 5.9 standard settings, now tell me what you think. Original K7 Original K20D Filtered K7 Filtered K20D Okay take a step back from the screen when looking at them, as you can see the K20D has some colouration under the letters TA you can quite cl...

k7 v k20 for noise

Back on Topic Why dose the K-7 seem to have a noise problem now over the K20D, when Danny had the pre production model it seemed to handel noise quite well IMO.

Scotty, In an effort to get this back on track, may I just say that the launch of the K7 has been just like the launch of all its predecessors. Huge intitial excitement, followed by a great army of waggleheads and nerds putting it through a barrage of ridiculous non-real-world tests and finding ...

k7 v k20 for noise

Well, I had a quick look at Shim's link, and clicked on , and thought "The K-7 looks nicest to me". The K20D and 50D both have quite unpleasant colour noise, and the 50D has nasty jpeg artifacts. I look back at my Provia 400 shots, and think "thank goodness for digital". Noise compared to grai...

k7 v k20 for noise

I must admit I have decided to hold back on the K-7 for the moment due to the noise issues. Trouble is there seem to be varying reports, some being that it is the same as the K20D and others that it is actually worse .. none that I have seen say it is better. I am actually thinking of keeping my...

Back on Topic Why dose the K-7 seem to have a noise problem now over the K20D, when Danny had the pre production model it seemed to handel noise quite well IMO. So far, that is not my experience with the K-7. On the contrary, it seems the same to better that the K20D to me so far.

I don't have a K-7 to compare but, other than my subject being out of focus, I'm quite happy with this shot noise wise. K20D + DA* 50-135mm, 1/125s, f2.8, ISO6400, no flash, from about 30-35 metres. The image has been 'cleaned' with Noise Ninja. This is the only shot I took throughout the evening...

k7 v k20 for noise

Whilst my image presented above is not technically brilliant (my fault), I find it bizarrre that, in a thread with much 'chest puffing' about digital noise issues, it has been ignored as an example of digital noise (or lack of it) in an ISO6400 image from a K20D. Noise is not a problem in this ima...

Maybe you can't see the point & that's your perogative entirely which I respect. Periodically I pop over to Depressingreview to see what's going on. Predictably, there's a whole load of people coming up with silly tests which don't compare like with like, and anyway, everybody is interpreting the r...

Honeymoon Help!

Jo'burg is dangerous and walking through Cape Town late at night is the same as some parts of London. I always wondered about it until I went. I have never had any trouble walking or driving down there. I would regularly walk around with camera and lenses in full view. One incident tho...

Honeymoon Help!

For a honeymoon, what would you prefer. A nice quiet "hotel" with just a few other guests where the management and staff would really take care of you OR a standard eurubox room where you are just another number and no one cares? Have a real serious look at S Africa, combine, good scenery, beach...
