Regrets..... I've had a few.

Been a few for me too I guess.. The usual missed bargains when it comes to equipment. In my case I was once offered a SMC-A 85/1.4, and one of the holly grails a SMC-A 200/4 macro. All years back when I went through a period in my life when I lost interest in photography and certainly did not thi...

Regrets..... I've had a few.

I second that on the FA 50mm 1.4. Back when I bought my GX-10, I remember it going as low as £139 because it was being "discontinued". One of the main reasons why I don't think I'll buy one anywhere over that price. LOL

Regrets..... I've had a few.

Well, I certainly learned not to dither! Not dithering has seen me get the F*250-600mm and an A*200mm Macro at prices that could have easily been double in recent times not to mention jumping on the 100mm WR Jessops deal. Regrets from the big sell off to fund the 250-600mm were obviously that...

I'd buy Pentax again at the drop of a hat. I suppose I'm a relative newbie to Pentax - just one year into the system - and 6 months into having a K20D. Things have'nt really changed much in the camera landscape. Nikon have released the D5000, and Canon released the 500D. Neither intrest me in the...

I would be very tempted also to go for the Nikon D 300 as the price range is on the mark and have read some very good reports on it. I also like the feed back concerning how well the camera copes with noise at high ISO which would be a great benifit for me at inside dog shows where flash is not real...

All cameras marques and models are well capable of delivering images of a quality far in excess of the technical demands of 99.99% of photographers and, dare I say it, 100% of us around here. As George says, there are some deluded souls who fondly imagine that using another camera will make them...

Know what you mean Mike, at Goodwood last weekend, there were literally thousands of DSLRs around, with at least 95% coming from the top 2. We kept getting a lot of stares, mainly curious, some looked like they were looking down at us, and the odd 'knowing nod'. It was fun though in the paddocks,...

So I had a look round some of the wildlife professional photographers websites to see what they were using. And while they all use either Canon or Nikon ..... I think the reason professional wildlife photographers (as well as sports shooters) use Nikon or Canon is mainly down to lens choice. The...

Lower noise at higher ISOs and multiple lens focus corrections.

With respect Mike, you don't have a K20D, nor a K7, so making a judgement like that can't really be possible. How do you know that if you bought a K20D now you wouldn't be amazed by the difference to your K10D and never look back....? There is absolutely no way I would happily go back to the K...

How do you know that if you bought a K20D now you wouldn't be amazed by the difference to your K10D and never look back....? Because the K20D was not different enough for me in the ways that I wanted. Yes, the better ISO, limited liveview and focus option for lenses may well be enough for a lot ...

Today I went to a well know camera shop that does not rate greatly with photographers as the staff have no idea what they are doing...yes THAT shop. I tried out 3 cameras that I am interested in, D3, D700 & D300. The size, build and overall usage of the D3 was just amazing and I have never used s...

Stefan, I agree with you entirely. Hearing everyone debating whether or not to get the K-7 makes me wonder if I should to. But like you said while it would be nice to say you had the latest camera with nice new extras and better things, I have to remind myself that I should learn how to get the m...

Pentax Dealers in Glasgow

Does anyone know of any Pentax dealers in Glasgow? I am going back for 2 days on Sunday and just wanted to have a look at some stuff I don't need  although I am looking for a Bigma,

Leave of absence

It's sometimes a good idea to check the dates of postings. Kris went to Romania in July 2009. I think he's back now.
