Honeymoon Help!

I would certainly agree with the idea of going to Africa. It's disappearing fast, and the sooner you go the better.

East Africa probably offers the most exciting and varied options, but if it's a honeymoon and you have kids, I am sure that SA is a better bet, as Polchraine suggests.

What about Canada. There is a lot to see and photograph around here. The City of Québec is the only fortified city left in North America (if my memory serves me well), Montréal has outstanding restaurants (and a few so and so), the Laurentians are among the oldest mountains in the world, and Québec's culture is unique due to it's French heritage mixed with English ruling. Unfortunately, by that time of the year, there is not much going on in the festivals' scene. I could go on and on...

Chilly in November (they want a beach), and the point about Africa is that if you don't go soon, there'll be very little to see.

Many of the Greek islands are hard to get to out of season. Corfu which is lovely in many ways closes down around this time so that even if you get there most of the facilities are shut down.

Kids are too young for Egypt otherwise the deals you get at Luxor are amazing and you have the tombs to go to.

What's the weather like in Sri Lanka at that time? Again you should get some good deals.

Take a look at Travel Genie site I think it is. They have some good deals - but I have a wife who deals with all this so I'm no expert. I just tag along

Imagine being on that beach , suntan lotion on, shorts on, slr in hand and a nice deckchair. Bliss!

Another plus for S Africa is the photographic opportunities. The scenery changes quickly, wild animals are everywhere, diverse population.

With so much space and so few people you can drive 50km and not see another car! No worries about getting people out of your shots.

As much as i would love to go to South Africa i dont think i could convince the other half. Its supposed to be a bit dangerous isnt it for crime?

Jo'burg is dangerous and walking through Cape Town late at night is the same as some parts of London.

I always wondered about it until I went. I have never had any trouble walking or driving down there. I would regularly walk around with camera and lenses in full view.

One incident though - walking back to the car after taking some shots. A coloured guy starts shouting at me, I tried to ignore it but then a 2m tall 20 year old walks towards me! Various thoughts raced through my mind and he said "did you get some good pictures - dad over there was a photographer once, until he found drink". Walked over, had a chat and left.

Thats why she doesnt like the idea then

With it being november im limited to either the canary islands or somewhere like carribean/indian ocean

Cant be a very long flight due to kids being stuck in one place for long hours (my oldest son matthew has 10x the amount of energy that normal kids i swear it)

In that case as a public service please tell us which flights you're on

You've got a predicament, if you go to a nice place with great vistas. You'll love it, the wife will too, and the kids will be bored to tears.
Wherever you go, find something for the kids to enjoy.
