There's no foolproof way, not without a load of effort and cost.

However, backup drives might be one solution. I think memory cards will be a poor option as they will not hold the data permanently. A long time maybe, but they will become corrupted in eventually.
Best to mix a few things to be sure. John is correct here and if you wanted to go Just stats you'll probably find that a standard computer hard drive will out last a cd/DVD if treated well. Multiple different system spread over a wide area would be your best bet, the wide area means your data will be resistant to fire / floods, multiple systems (a backup of a backup of a backup) and keep going.

It will cost you and remember that every time you copy a jpeg and other data the data itself gets weaker (easiest way to explain).

So in summary. Spread you backup's around using different systems of storage and you'll stand a better chance if the worst should happen.

Are these open to all members or only those who pay?

Everyone has to start somewhere. I have only in the last 12 months purchase my first DSLR and before then only had a compact or camera phone. I've had an interest in Photography since I was a teen. Had a quick look on-line to define it and found a few but have this link link adverts have always been misleading in some way. Photography has many levels of experience within it. I could not find anything that says if you use a camera phone then you can't be a photographer. I have a degree in IT and many people I work with don't the still work in IT and are better at some things than I am. I'm a beginner photographer who has started using a DLSR. I could be an artist whether I used a pencil or paint. Someone has already said if someone wants to use poorer technology then it will hopefully make my images look better. Sorry for the rant but I've also been driving since 95 and give learners plenty of space and patience.

I got one from a forum member and I''m very happy with it. Don't have as much experience as others but I find it light and compact. I have a picture on my profile page of a leaf I took with it. Only adjusted levels on it and think its a great image. I would recommend this lens to anyone on a budget looking for some distance.

Hi Laura, i also own a K-x as do a few others on this forum. It's a great camera. You'll get plenty advice on here for the K-x, K5 and any questions you might have.

Hope you enjoy your new toy when it arrives.

Just a guess as SR might be correct but there could be a mechanism that tells the camera when it in landscape or portrait hence the 90 tip?

I've put a few photo's up in here and had some good comments and feedback. I inspires me to look differently and maybe try again or try to improve. I'm just a beginner so the is helpful. I have also left comments for others but mostly to say that I like the image as I don't feel confident to criticise with not knowing much myself. As people are individuals and have individual taste if I don't get feedback, I still liked my photo enough to share it. I don't have enough to fill a flickr page so wouldn't use it for now.

I have a K-x. I'm not sure about the K-m but on the K-x you can tell it to open the shutter on the first press of the remote and the close on the second press. This is in a menu somewhere and it's what i used last 5th Nov. Hopefully this option is on the K-m.
