Thank you
I've quite possibly spoken to him before, I'm not sure! My K-x and few bits and pieces came from there, and they all seem friendly and helpful!

Welcome Laura, Nice to have another member somewhat nearer than the norm! I'm just down the road in Clacton.
I'm somewhat jealous of the K5, my K7 is great but the better low light capabilities of the K5 are something I wish I could have afforded.

Hi Laura, i also own a K-x as do a few others on this forum. It's a great camera. You'll get plenty advice on here for the K-x, K5 and any questions you might have.
Hope you enjoy your new toy when it arrives.

I had a little sneak at your Flickr and noticed you've taken some racing shots. My friend races in Britcar and i was down Donnington in April to get a few shots of him, its a lot harder than i imagined! But cant wait to have another go with the K-5

Yes I think you may need something longer than 55mm for that My friend races in Britcar and i was down Donnington in April to get a few shots of him, its a lot harder than i imagined! But cant wait to have another go with the K-5

Lol! Yeah, I've toyed with getting something longer, but I don't really have any need for it at the moment, although it is tempting! Littleone wrote:

As frogfish said you'll want something a bit longer, along with luck, LOADS of practice, and willingness to accept a low success rate. I've been trying to photograph motor racing for years and still find only ~1% of a days shooting worth sharing on-line.Frogfish wrote:

There are reasonably priced long lenses available (My F100-300 cost me ~£70) so if you intend to try more often it needn't cost a fortune, and can also prove useful for wild life...
What sorts of Photography interest you most? I have to admit I use 50-300mm lenses most.

Hi Laura, I have both K-x and K-5, they are great cameras. I'm sure you'll soon get the bug to buy more lenses and in particular some longer ones.
I bought a Tamron 300mm prime (40 years old, hardly been used) from ebay last year for 20 quid and it works fantastic on the K-5. I would recommend the 55-300 also - it's a great lens and gives you a lot of range for relatively little money.
Best wishes
David
