What Pentaxophile said, 8-16 for 375 from SRS. I didn't go for it cause when I tried it it seemed a little soft on my K-5 but it was the first day I had the camera so I put it down as user error. Ended up with a 10-20 from Cameraworld for 298 mainly cause I have seen brilliant pics from the lens and it had those extra 4mm on the long end making it that much more versatile.

I know a lot of people speak highly of SRS on this forum but my experiences to date have been somewhat disapointing so I'll only make the hike up to Watford if I don't find a decent copy closer to home.

How so? Would be interested to know. I am very close to SRS (essentially a 5 minutes stroll from Nascot Wood) so they will be my local store for my Pentax gear and would like to know if there are any cautionary stories?

There was no difference, I just expected more pics per card given that both Nikon and Pentax produce 20MB files.

Hm ok so that is how many it estimates. How many do you all manage to get ? I understand the estimates but I find it strange that my files are under 20MB each and the camera estimates them at 40MB ...

I noticed this first with my D7k but it is the same story with my K-5. I bought two 16GB cards a little while ago to make sure that 16Mp files will not limit me when I am on trips. So when I saw that the camera estimates 400-430 pictures (RAW) I was a little bit surprised but didn't think much of it. However when I came home and put the files in Aperture I found out that the files are around the 20MB mark in which case I would have expected 800 or so files to be able to be held by a 16GB card.

So how many RAWs can you fit in from your K-5 to your cards?

I'd assume the body only will be but what about the lenses...? and you would need a few of those. I am not sure I am prepared to push that much cash towards a camera with the IQ of a compact and have to maintain two sets of lenses... Let alone that m43 are just as small and with plenty of cheaper bodies and lenses selection.

All that means though that the moment I see one logic will prevail and that is not what normally happens!
There is a proper fisheye lens which is pretty unique for a compact, and reasonably priced. That doesn't get away from the high price of the body though.

If you want discrete ( not scaring people in public ) get a little Sony Cybershot. Latest models have the same sensor as the Q, and are a helluva lot cheaper.
This is true, I would probably err towards Canon s95 just because its cheaper. I'd take either over a Sony which doesn't offer RAW, although the TX5 is great value as a cheapy. If I had loadsamoney though, the cuteness of the Q and ability to collect lenses would probably win me over. Why get an X100 over a Kr? They both feature similar sensors but the X100 costs about four times as much. Some people overlook cost vs performance and just buy something because it's a fun toy to play with.
I think it comes down to the fact that you will use more / have a desire to play with something that to you feels nice to hold and use and there is no denying that the X100 just as the Q looks and feels great to use. So people will pay the Q price - and one of those people might even be me - not only because it looks good but because it feels nice to hold and use.

Not sure what more you can do than having checking at the long end wide open and making sure that there are no focusing issues there - both my 40mm and the 18-55 need a bit of focusing adjustments but I have a K-5 so I can dial in individual adjustments and that works actually quite well, especially given that they were both purchased through the internet. Can you not assign them to a button or create user settings with the K10D and dial in some adjustment so you are only a click away when you swap to a lens that needs it?

I'd buy a video camera if I want video. Not convinced that DSLRs are there yet in far too many ways. IF you want video on a DSLR you are much better off with one of the SLTs from Sony.
