15mm prime too wide for a prime yet not wide enough for proper wide angle shots though I like the extreme wide.

I'd like though to try Pentax primes this is why I am not looking for Sigma now...

Thanks Mike-P,

Your comments on TP were much appreciated I will be updating that one and this one once the K-5 arrives, I simply cannot wait. Was not as giddy about the K-5 as I was with the D7000 and the D7000 I had been lusting over for months!

I am moving to Pentax from Nikon and am planning on getting a couple of zoom lenses - the 50-135 for sure and the 8-16 Sigma cause I love my wide angles but not sure what to get in between. I'd rather not get a zoom as I have primes both for better IQ but also for convenience.

I have been looking at the 40mm with lust mainly because it is very close to my 35mm AF-S and also for its size, with it on the K-5 feels no bigger or bulkier than my D40!!!. It is simply irresistibly slim and very close to the 35mm. However I find the 2.8 aperture a bit slow.

So apart from the 40 what other primes stand out? I don't want at the moment the ones that fall in the 50-135 category as if I want a 70 or 77 I will probably need 100 and 135 so no point.

However a good one in the range of 16-50 would be very useful. Should i simply forget the size and get something like the 31 1.8? Though I find uber expensive primes a bit of a bad move...

I have been using a Nikond D40 for well over 5 years now and loved it to bits, great camera small and well made really. Time came though for me to upgrade so I found a decent deal on a D7000 and bought it.

Amazing camera love it to bits but big and with my 50-150 Sigma it felt simply uncomfortable to use. On a whim I go to SRS in Watford and ask to have a go to a K-5 with a 50-135 and I was sold. The button layout, the weight, the grip the lens the balance. The camera felt just so right in my hands I just needed to have it and I did, it is now on its way to me with the Kit lens.

As I am selling most of my Nikon kit - apart from the D40 with the 35 AF-S (camera for sentimental reasons but also cause I love holding it and the 35 cause it is a cracking lens) - I will be buying a bit of Pentax lens kit.

50-135 first, 40mm second, 8-16 Sigma third and lastly 16-50 Or that is what I hope to do!

Good shooting and greetings from Watford

I am very interested on the 50-135, do you have any pics of the lens maybe a couple you 've taken with it especially wide open on the tele end?

Thanks!

Sorry cannot send PMs cause I am not registered in the forum long enough
