The Tamron is not sealed, built quality is only ok and AF speed is average but it is fairly compact, very reasonably priced, 2.8 throughout its range and has great IQ.
That lens is one of the two (the other is the 35mm AFS) that I kept to accompany my D40 when I sold everything else of my Nikon system to move to Pentax simply because it deserves every penny of the £290 I paid for it new.
If you look for it s/h on here it is easily less than £250 and you won't lose much if you buy it and then decide to resell it.

I like both these shots but feel in #2 you should have given more space in front of her (maybe it wasn't possible).
I am extremely happy at the ISO 4000 performance of the K-5 though!

I would like to see number 2 in colour as well.

These two pictures have been posted in the gallery and got a few good comments so I thought they are worth sharing. It is not that they couldn't have been taken with my D7k rather that I wouldn't be carrying it around with me whereas I am more than happy to drag my K-5

I was not a big fan of its built quality though so looking for something different. Would have gone for the 16-50 DA* but have heard enough complains to be holding out maybe for a revision or simply not bother and get the 21mm which together with the 40mm will give me all I need from the 16-50 in a more portable package and with amazing IQ

The D7k is a lot closer with a much more sophisticated AF and very similar high ISO characteristics as the K-5 but a lot bigger and heavier for no reason that I can understand. Then again if you are to move from a camera system for which you have invested in you might as well go for a K-5.

Don't think it is going to happen....

I still like the B&W. have you tried just croppnig a bit more off the righthand side, just so she is not in the middle of the image?
Maybe I should experiment a bit more but it is so rare for me that pics come out of the camera and I just like them that I just thought I'd leave it alone!
