Does the plate also have a locking pin? If it does then remove that as Pentax don't provide a hole for a locking pin any more, and it will prevent the plate really being tight against the body. Then tighten the plate as tight as it will go.
One didn't and one did and now doesn't Seems better now.

Thanks to all who offered advice, I'm sure I have a piece of rubber insertion knocking about so will try that as a washer on the one that didn't have the pin.

I am surprised someone didn't suggest a torque wrench

The couple of cheap tripods, (the Jessops Atlantic Delta weighs a ton bought circa 1989, seems quite robust) are adequate (read can't afford a posh one yet) for what I'm doing, i.e. messing about in the garden and trying to remember what does what on the K7. The main problem I have is the camera slips around on the QR plate and I'm a bit wary of over tightening the screw and doing some damage. Any quick solutions to this, is it a common fault because of being afraid to tighten the screw that extra millimetre or two?

I wander around this site when I have a question I need answering...most of the time it's already been answered so a big thank you to all those who had the foresight to ask my questions for me...
Yes, I have found that too. I also like to read previous comments etc. The wry humour in some of them can really brighten an otherwise dull day.

As a beginner I find the gallery photographs an inspiration and comments on my own postings very helpful.

If you have a Pentax this is the Forum

It is indeed a bug, and one that has seemed difficult to cure. I understand there are plans to improve the EXIF reporting, but in the meantime Av is being reported as Tv.
Thanks for the speedy reply. I was worried it was a bug in my camera

If I hadn't joined the forum I wouldn't have my fantastic K7 or the equally satisfying DA 55-300 lens!
It's also nice/demoralising/challenging to see some of the amazing photos posted by other members.
So I'm happy!
The last sentence is so true, I go all shades of green when I look at other people's amazing photos, but always feel I want to do better too.

Perhaps you could find a Samsung version or a second hand one cheaper, if you search the Leads to Deals section and then the wider web.

Looking for advice on which wide angle lens to buy. I have more or less discounted the Pentax 12-24mm on the simple grounds of cost so am left with a choice of Tamron 10-24mm or Sigma 10-20mm. I have also been looking at the 16-45mm but that seems close to what I have, 18-55mm (kit lens). I'm hoping some members of the forum have used all or any of these and give me their preference as this would seem the most unbiased review.

I believe the new Epson 3000 has ink tanks double the size of the superseded 2880. That might help? It's A3+ as well, which is useful. Gets a good write-up here, FWIW.
Clicked on the link, great review but at £213 + for a set of ink cartridges !!! Wow, I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon

Any recomendations on where to get the odd A3 size photo printed (Cheaply ) somewhere in the Newcastle on Tyne area or online
