It's that time again (printer advice)

Like the title says It's that time again

I already own a epson R1900 and it's under a year old but I have out grown it and need to buy a better and bigger printer A2 should do it.

I have never bought anything other that epson but the last two printers R1800 and R1900 ink jets have left me thinking there has to be better out there and cheaper running costs

advice on my next printer would help me a lot, like i say " always bought epson in the past" so this is new ground for me and if pentax made a printer I would have bought it already

I believe the new Epson 3000 has ink tanks double the size of the superseded 2880. That might help? It's A3+ as well, which is useful. Gets a good write-up here, FWIW.

I'll try reading carefully next time - sorry James! Wow that is a big printer too. I can understand why you would be concerned about running costs - you'd chew through some ink covering an A2 page.

Same amount of ink as 4xA4 pages. I now printing photos on our old Canon printer dried it up quite quickly.

It can be very difficult to gauge printer quality and economy online.

I would just stay with epson if i was you.
IF you print a lot you could look at a continues feed system, those should be cheaper to run but you might want to invest in something to calibrate the colours of the printer if you do that. Colormunki is probably the cheapest solution.

Clicked on the link, great review but at £213 + for a set of ink cartridges !!! Wow, I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon

Any recomendations on where to get the odd A3 size photo printed (Cheaply ) somewhere in the Newcastle on Tyne area or online

Part of the Pentax Q Toy Image printing accessory system then.

The Kodak printer looked quite impressive at the 'focus on imaging' show in Birmingham earlier this year. Can't remember the model number though but as a few Pentax snappers attended someone is bound to know

I've just got an Epson Stylus Pro3880 of ebay for £520, only a year old. Prints upto A2, very good colour reproduction

A3 or above a ciss is a must I reckon. If you're printing professionally you have no choice but to choose quality inks and pass the cost on but otherwise there are a selection of oem inks and systems for most Epson printers.

well I when for the R2880 A3+ in the end and made a vowel to use ONLY EPSON INK as the R1900 only lasted 15 months from new.The print heads where so blocked. Me and a professional printer repair centre could not clean it.

so no ciss on the new printer.

print quality is fantastic as may have said the r3000 ink is expensive but a ciss is better on this because the printer heads or coated with something that stops blocked printer heads not sure how good it is, on time will tell

Hey good choice James - Bad news about the 1900 though - 15 months!!

19 months of all day every day use would not be bad Seriously though, where Epson printers fail most is when they are 'not' used because the ink dries in the jets and can be a pain to clear.
I've had many Epron printers and all of them have suffered the same because I don't print a lot, Isopropyl Alchohol and a syringe has always worked to clear the print head though.

I have been using a Canon ip3600 photo printer for quite a while now. It is a good option as it is not that expensive but gives quality prints, which is the main concern here. I am not at liberty to claim this to be the best but it works for me, so you might want to give it a look. For photo papers, I am not really certain with picking the best one but it should have a good quality to bring out the best out of the colors.
