Having looked at and/or bought a few DSRL/Photography mags it't very unusual to see anything relating to Pentax so don't bother now. Have started to put the money saved by not purchasing into a jar marked "Lens Fund" I'll be able to afford something off eBay in a couple of years

I'm using a dual computer monitor set up so any hints on calibrating the screen colour. If I open a photo file on one monitor (to me) it looks a bit washed out but on the other monitor it looks a lot better. Haven't printed anything out yet to see what the photo looks like printed. Monitors are Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW (on the digital output) and Samsung Syncmaster 2243 (no other letters etc on the analogue output) Grphics card NVIDIA 9800gt

My problem is the horizon of the sea tends to drop either to the left or right when i try to take snaps. A tripod bag is ideal for carrying a spirit level with you when out on a shoot.

Why I like Jessops. They are only a bus ride away about 30mins (free courtesy of bus pass) so no parking problems. They do a great interest free finance deal 6 or 10 months depending on cost of purchase. They are doing Pentax again

Recommendation ND Grads (cheap as chips eg ebay)for beginner to purchase. Intend to experiment with coastal landscape (lots of sky and sea). I have Cokin type filter holders.

There is a GEM camera bag backpack type advertised for a reasonable price (£34.96) on Amazon which looks like a more expensive bag from other makers. Has anyone bought one of these? The online customer reviews seem favourable.

Hello sam-joseph. I have had my K7 almost 24 hours now and updated the firmware from v1.0 to v1.11 this morning. I think it will be a lot of fun learning how to use the setting etc. I feel like a Space Cadet on his first posting to a Star Ship

Thanks for the confirmation alfpics. Update OK. ( After several seconds of buttock clenching )
I would have thought that as it was a brand new camera it would have been delivered with the latest firmware in place, the update prior to this one anyway.

Stan

Firmware updates should be done with a fully charged battery. Doing a firmware upgrade won't affect your warranty. Your existing cards will be fine, don't forget to format them in your new camera before you use them.
K-7 No card in camera -> press MENU -> switch on shows version 1.0

Have formatted a sdhc card in the camera The sdhc card now has a directory DCIM so am I right in thinking the "root" directory is above this ie copy FWDC204B.BIN to (on my computer) Removable disk (H) NOT to the DCIM directory
