Hi John - fair comment and information absorbed - the lens actually sits away from the camera when not in use on its rear cap with just the front elements open to the UV.
I would ask how the spores would be able to get through the lens glass/optics into the camera though ?

I must admit I bought a 1.4 Tak M42 from ebay a year or so ago for under £25 with "some fungus" and was going to clean it,but then read - on here I think - that sunlight was the best way to alleviate the problem - so it is kept always in direct sunlight when not in use - and when there is any - and I must admit it has never affected ANY of my photgraphs taken with it on the *istD with adapter.

I can only speak for myself RPLSF - nothing to do with you or the idea of the comp,but with a fortnightly comp which I enjoy looking for the "right" shot,the weekly Gallery comp which I look for entries in my albums,I have sufficient stimulus for my photography in them.
Another competition unless immediately exciting and desirable to be part of just becomes another frustration in my busy and eclectic week/fortnight/month.If I don`t feel able to compete on an even level with some of my esteemed PU friends then I don`t get involved but watch and hopefully learn or take inspiration as I was doing here.
