How do I find out who made my lens. I assumed it was Vivitar.... This is a lens a really fancy taking some time with..
Have a look at:

Various posts elsewhere on the web suggest that this is the definitive list of the makes for all of the vast number variations of the Vivitar 28mm lenses made.

I have the Komine made Vivitar 28mm (A03 version)- it's nice to use (at least I like using it) and produces really good results.

Why not attach them to you K5II and see if you like the results. Some of my favourite lenses are manual.
However, I agree with Dr.O - give them a try and if you don't like, then get rid of them.

Definitely the B&W - the car is brought out of the background and the car has a "crispness" that is somehow not there in the colour version.

I don't have any experience of the 18-270, but I have recently bought an 18-135mm and I'm very impressed with the quality of the images I'm getting from it - it also has a very nice "feel" to it.

A Honey Bee collecting nectar from the Hisbiscus in our garden this afternoon.

Yesterday evening I saw a bumble bee absolutely covered in pollen from one end to the other, so that it looked almost completely white, from the same plant. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good shot of it - maybe better luck tomorrow.

Many, many years ago a friend of mine dropped his MX while climbing in the Alps (it fell out of his rucksack when he was digging out some extra climbing thingies) - he eventually found over 1000 feet lower which a smashed lens, one of the strap lugs missing and a dented pentaprism housing (+ lots of assorted scratches). He put on another lens - and it worked!

One of the reasons I went for Pentax all those years ago.

You've nailed the butterfly, but those JPEG settings will not get the best out of camera or lens.
Thanks for your comments re the butterfly.

I recognise that these JPEG settings are hardly the best, but I only use the JPEGs so that I have a thumbnail available to view on the computer in Explorer. I always use the RAW image for the ones I want to keep.

John - Thanks for the advice about this lens that you gave in response to an earlier post of mine, I'm pleased that I went with it.

I bought some 20 x 13 bags from Maple Framing. See http://www.mapleframing.co.uk/acatalog/CLEAR_FACE_BAGS.html

Should suit for what you need. They have a variety of sizes at reasonable prices, but don't forget that you need to add the postage to the prices shown. I brought 100, and it worked out at roughly 25p each including postage and VAT.
