Wonderful - really shows the surreal nature of the lights.

Very jealous - seen them once in N Finland, something I'll never forget. Last time I went north, it was either overcast or no show.

What a great set - love 9 (is that Tim Harvey in a relaxed moment or just a look-a-like?) & 10; also 13 (although I probably shouldn't!)

Mine has a mixture of competition evenings, presentations and a monthly workshop on a wide mixture of topics. No-one takes a camera and "gear talk" is almost non-existent, except at some the workshops where it may be appropriate, e.g. one held last year on macro technique. It has a wide ranges of ages from 90+ (and still very active!)to around mid 20s.

I've found it very useful, and it is definitely helping me to improve my own photography.

However, the first local club I tried didn't suit me as it was a bit like that described in John's final sentence - so I tried another. I would suggest that you give it a try and if you don't like it - don't join.

Thanks again - I'll take your advice and trim a little off the left.

Thanks guys - I take your points, particularly regarding the horizon. The main point of interest for me was always the clouds, the hills and the mist in them was secondary for me. I've done a re-crop and B&W conversion below to "crank-up" the clouds - however, I think it's gone a bit far. I think this one will fall into the "nearly, but no cigar" category.

Taken a couple of weeks ago on a cool cloudy morning from the south side of the lake looking north east. Taken with K-r, DA 18-135 WR and a CP filter.

C&C appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum. A lot of people rate the Tamron SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD MACRO 1:1 highly for macro and it's also a reasonable focal length for portraiture. You might also be able to pick up some older versions of this lens second hand
+1
