I guess I'd better remember to empty the bag before trying that oven trick, huh?
Silica gel will absorb water and will need to be dried every few months.

Check out the above link, for some useful background information.
I have used ordinary household vinegar to kill a mild case.
If it were me I would get definitely lose the the bag, but you need also to consider the wider environment.
Air circulation, low humidity and big shifts in temperature should be avoided.
I also have made up some bags of silica gel and have them close by as a backup. You can silica gel from most chemists. I also 'dryout' the bags in an oven every 3 months.

I'm actively looking for one and cannot find one in stock anywhere in the UK or the popular US stores. Waiting on back order
I'm going to buy a new camera after Xmas, hopefully a K10D. But if there are still no 50-500 Sigmas around by then I'll probably swallow my pride and buy a Canon 400D or something similar instead. It's not ideal, but the 50-500 is the only lens which offers the kind of quickly accessible range I want. I may get slightly faster focusing with the USM version of the 50-500 as well, which would help make up for losing IS.
I feel dirty even thinking about this though.

I likewise have a K10D and am considering either a Sigma 135-400 or a 170-500 lens to go with it. Any recommendations, thoughts etc about either lens and the combination.
Also I am in New York in a couple of weeks time and the prices over there seem very competitive - presumably there are no issues I should be aware of.
Thanks in advance

I also recomend the Pentax FA 24-90. A very fine general walkabout lens with excellent image quality

After browsing through their feedback for a while, it seems like many items are posted from Hong Kong, despite the location given as Oldham, UK.
They seem to be responsive to complaints however. I wouldn't worry so much, except for the inevitable customs+VAT that will incur.
on packages from HK sent by UPS.

Hi all!
I'm about to purchase a 77mm from a very wierd store on eBay (thegadgetcompany2005), so I'd like to know if someone has any (good or bad) experience with them.
Also, if someone is willing to sell a 77mm Limited (yeah, right), please let me know!
Thanks!
The store has a very large array of items and the company is an Ebay Powerseller. The company appear to be based in Oldham
The lens prices look equate to US prices in £ Sterling and are very tempting.
I made an enquiry and received an automated reply, still awaiting the answer to my question.
What might be viewed as suspicious is that there are 20 of each lens available, including the FA Ltd's, and I wonder how they managed to get hold of so many.
That said their Ebay status and the professional nature of the store make them appear quite credible.

I am not yet aware of pricing and due date(!) at the moment, but will let everyone know as soon as I am told and allowed to!

It would appear that the most likely problem on mine is that the main control circuit board is gone. Everything works fine except that no camera will fire it. Even if I could get the replacement board, the cost of a repair is more than the value of the gun. I do have another along with an AF400T. I have used them in multiple with hotshoe grips and a full set of long cords which is why I wanted a replacement. The cost of a "new" multiple setup is both beyond me at the moment and not cost effective for it's use.
I will have to search for a good secondhand one.
