The FA35 F2 AL is a v good lens and available from B&H Photo a reputable US dealer for $299 about £150, even with duty and postage should be no more than £200, which is quite a saving over UK prices.

Even better if you know someone in the US ask them to buy it and claim the rebate that is currently on offer. That should go someway towards paying import duty.

Hello there,
I have recently inherited an Asahi Pentax S1. It has two good lenses with it and to be honest it seems like a very good sturdy camera. However, there is a problem. Unfortunately it wasn't supplied with the clip-on light meter from Asahi. I am trying to track down one of these light meters, where might be a good place to look? Also how do they fit onto the camera? I see that it slides onto the pentaprism protrusion and then clips into the viewfinder but how does it connect with the shutter dial?

Thanks
J.Sutton

I must admit, I haven't used one but all the reviews I have seen were somewhat disappointing. Both the 50/1.4 and the 35/2 can be bought for much less. The 35 is probably a more usable length on the dSLRs and is a full stop faster. The 50 makes a good portrait lens and is 2 stops faster.

The DA40F2.8 Ltd is quite a good lens nearly matching the FA43 Ltd!
FA 35 and 50 are on my list ahead of any zoom, just wish that they would reintroduce the FA 24

I just got my hands on this lens and i am wondering what the consensus is regarding its quality. I am developing an affinity for A series primes. I can't resist them . I haven't got it yet but expecting it any day.

Anybody got this lens and can give me a heads up.

I also have my eye on an SMC A 135mm I don't know why its like eating a packet of crisps, you have to have them all

I have no personal experience of the 135mm A, but if you check out this link, they don't seem to rate it very highly.

Thanks for the review. I was'nt aware it was a Lowepro bag.
I have seen these and almost bought one several weeks back. I will go back for a second look.
The price AUD$110 on that Aussie website stevejcoe posted sounds very reasonable, Thanks Steve
Glad to be of help, for your information they sell in the UK for around £40-45, so $110 Australian sounds about right

Grrrr. It might be worth a call.

Pentax should be selling these by the million......

They are selling extremely well, either on their own, or as part of of kit and that is the problem, not for the first time Pentax have been caught out by higher than expected demand.

All this is great for the long term, as Pentax should benefit from economies of scale, become more profitable and secure.

In the meantime, I guess we all have to show a little patience.

Could be that they have been breaking kits (more demand for K10D body only ) and are now selling off surplus kit lens.

SRS have this lens listed for £39
Ah, thanks.

I am rather new to this LBA. I already have this lens, but I would like a little more reach, so is it likely that there could be a surplus of, say, 50-200 in the near future?

Richard
The Pentax 50-200 is in short supply at the moment, they regularly turn up on EBay but are selling for around £120 at the moment

I am surprised there is a market for the 18-55 lens (or any 18-55 lens for that matter) because of the price....and the fact that there are several for sale on ebay and it's the standard lens with the *ist DS/DL/K100/K110 and K10....

I'd sell my lightly used one if you'd name a sensible price, as I need to have a bit of a clear out
Don't be surpised there is one on Ebay now with a bid for £50. Typically they have been selling for between £30 -£40

I wonder if Pentax have any plans to offer a new 'kit lens' when the K?D is released?
