Hi all!

I'm about to purchase a 77mm from a very wierd store on eBay (thegadgetcompany2005), so I'd like to know if someone has any (good or bad) experience with them.

Also, if someone is willing to sell a 77mm Limited (yeah, right), please let me know!

Thanks!

The store that Flink is referring to can be found here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/TheGadgetCompanyUK_Digital-SLR-Lens_Pentax_W0QQcolZ4QQd...

The store has a very large array of items and the company is an Ebay Powerseller. The company appear to be based in Oldham

The lens prices look equate to US prices in £ Sterling and are very tempting.

I made an enquiry and received an automated reply, still awaiting the answer to my question.

What might be viewed as suspicious is that there are 20 of each lens available, including the FA Ltd's, and I wonder how they managed to get hold of so many.

That said their Ebay status and the professional nature of the store make them appear quite credible.

Not a 77 but I do have a spare 31 and a 43 for sale although the 43 is "reserved" at the moment.

After browsing through their feedback for a while, it seems like many items are posted from Hong Kong, despite the location given as Oldham, UK.
They seem to be responsive to complaints however. I wouldn't worry so much, except for the inevitable customs+VAT that will incur.
on packages from HK sent by UPS.

Probably right, I received no reply to my email requesting confirmation that the goods were in the UK and that there would be no import duty/VAT to pay

I'd be more concerned about a lack of UK warranty than import charges. Most eBay sellers who do have goods dispatched from outside the EU simply mark the packages as gifts to get around this. The seller's feedback doesn't seem to indicate that import fees have been a problem.

Pentax do offer a worldwide warranty. Fortunately I haven't had to use it yet. I must admit, I am a little wary of using the sellers which seem to be popping up in China but I have often used Henry's in Canada and can fully recommend them. Interestingly, Although I have quite often been charged for items coming from the US, I never been charged anything on a Canadian Parcel. In any case, many of Henry's prices are less than 2/3 of the UK one so even if you do end up being charged, it would still be cheaper than buying in the UK.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm still looking for that 77mm, though... and I think I wont risk it with the store I mentioned, they didn't answer me either.

Thanks again!

Here is a site which rates online sellers. it may help you avoid the dodgy ones
I think it is only covering US based sellers though.
