I suppose it depends if you think you'll use Quidco again as it's £5 to join, but yeah...this is begining to get tempting...

Is this a good flashgun to get chaps?
If you don't plan to use them again try topcashback. No £5 annual fee and 4% discount with Jessops.

This should be possible, but maybe the way to go is to fix the lens focus and bracket by moving the sensor?

Here is an idea for the next model.

Strip out as much of the gadget electronics and 'must have' features as possible to reduce weight in the body. Leaving the body as basic as possible, no in body processing, just a basic RAW file. Focus on IQ, lots of greyed out menus.

Make gadgets and features available to those who need them via a separately purchased grip(s). As more must have features become available you just buy another grip. Greyed out functions become available with the addition of a grip.

By selecting a common form factor and interface, it should be possible to design a modular system, based upon a common body and a series of add on grips.

I can see lots of advantages in this approach in terms of reduced manufacturing costs and user choice.

I thought the contacts inside the lens mount would power both SDM and the Power Zoom on the old FA lenses?

EDIT, according to Dimitrov's Pentax website the K200 DOES support power zoom
According to the information on the Pentax website the K200 does not support the powerzoom function. I sent an email to Dimitrov to inform him of this.

I believe that we that we close, repeat close to the situation we had with video recorders. It is not surprising, since DSLRS are increasingly marketed towards gadget freaks rather than photographers.

Yes some of the new reported features of the K7 might be nice to have, but will any improve the IQ of the image?

People talk lovingly of their old MX or LX, hands up who would vote for a basic LX equivalent, no bells and whistles or AF, but best possible IQ?

I know the market maybe small, but for me that would be a camera I would aspire to own.

If the K7 does prove to produce higher IQ then I may get one , in a year's time when the price will undoubtably be reduced to make way for the next must have model.

Excellent; a 50-200 weather sealed lens as well. I am VERY interested in these new weather sealed kit lenses....
For me photogragphy has always been a fun pastime, the need to take pictures in the middle of hailstorms or moonsoons has never arisen. For everything else a little care and common sense has worked well enough for the past 30 years.

What concerns me about WR type lenses is the extra complexity and cost that they introduce, the increased opportunity for things to go wrong and the fear that in the future along with SDM they will be the only option.

We always used Loctite at KLM with the aircrafts so I think it will do good enough for your lens
Remind me not to fly with KLM, it seems their aircraft are held together with superglue
Having worked for over 30 years in aerospace, I would just like to put everyone's mind at ease on the use of 'Superglue' There are special aerospace grades, which are used by original equipment providers as well as maintenance centres.

As for Canadian maintenance companies, Standard Aero in Winnipeg are amongst the best, if not the best. They provide service the PW100 engine for KLM.
