Matt - just looked up Abergwesyn - looks v interesting. SWLTBO doesn't seem to bother where I go - near or far, so might just head up to Glos and pick up the A40. So you might have another PU in the area.

No brainer to find you Friday then Matt - on the shores of the reservoir on or close to the Elan Dam.

If the weather's good, might just wander up that way myself - the Qashqai need a good run. Been a while since I been that way - preferred the cross country route over to Aberystwyth when I had business in that part of the world. Some good photo ops further on into the hills IRRC.

David - I'm another in the set who didn't claim the refund - my membership ran 'til end of Oct 2011.

Interest in what response you get.

Any lens other than a DA/DA* - which whilst it will work as the body is designed to work with lenses with no aperture ring, will vignette on a FF body.

Widest FF prime lens you'll likely to get hold off is a M/F 20mm, albeit its not that common. The standard wide angle, a 28mm, is readily available and if you're happy to use M/F (no great issue with it's big DoF), then a cheap option.

If you're lucky you might find a S/H FAJ 18-35mm zoom. Again, works fine with the MZ-50. The FA 24-90 is a rare and relatively expensive, otherwise most zooms start at 28mm and you a have a great range of options from the M/F M & A series through to the F, FA & FAJ series.

Gimmick - no. Fun - yes. Challenge - yes.

Like a lot of specialised lenses, it takes a bit getting used to. Sometimes what seems to be a good shot in theory turns out a pile of s**t and another time, a marginal composition comes out brilliant.

Ultimately, is it worth adding to your collection? I'd say DEFINITELY yes.

Jon - of course your welcome! Open invitation to all and any PUs in the area (or even passing through!) Nice if there were a few more than just the 3 of us.

Can offer transport from Bath if that helps anyone.

Like no 4 - nice study in a kind of cubist way!. I appreciate the distotion of the old curved glass gives to the stone mullions across the street but those not in the know about these things might find it a distraction.

From the general feel of the shots, I'd say this is Devizes.

OK - getting close the the double bank holiday holiday bonanza.

Are their any takers for a meet 2nd May?

No PMs expressing interest from PU in the region and only Geoff expressing any interest on line.

Don hit it on the nail. At the wide end of the range, double or triple stacked filters will cause vignetting. A CPL is in effect 2 filters combined in a single mount. I've ruined many a film or slide shot with a 28mm lens because I didn't remove the skylight filter first.

Might be better to use Cokin P series (or similar, such as Lee if your budget stretches that far) with a slim holder for wider angle lenses. Also, can change the adaptor to suit the filter thread of your lenses, so don't have to buy more than one copy of the filter.
