HG - your Picasso was hardly run in - px'd mine with 138000 on the clock. Poor old girl spent 7 years on the daily commute to Swindon (78m/day), mostly the M4 (which isn't one of life's most interesting motorways ). Still usually got 40000 from the front boots and a tad over 70000 from the rear.

Seriously glad that phase of my career ended in July 08. Price of diesel now is double what it was when I started on 2002. Thought of 3 tank fulls a month just doesn't bear thinking about (averaged 56mpg up til end of July 08 from new :lol.

Fad or no, it sold quite well when it first arrived in the UK (or so my local Nissan dealer told me when I was hovering in the vicinity of their display model)

The real deal didn't let me down in the winter snows - sailed through where my faithful old Picasso would have come to a wheel spinning halt.

I looked at it v breifly when I was chopping out my Picasso last October. Think it's supposed to be a baby Qashqai with a bit of added zing. Failed the looks test for me too - so I bought the real thing and got a second hand Qashqai in Fired Iron with a lot of add ons.

If it's out of warranty, worth having a chat with Robin at Harrow Technical

Matt - I suspect 'no flash' gets upgraded to 'no photography' because of all the P&S users who don't seem able to switch off the built in flash. Shame that those of us who could and would be happy to take low light photographs without damaging the item are penalised as a result.

Could always try a lens case. Mine lives in Lowepro case (a 5?) and can be attached to the outside of any of my various packs as required. Bit too big for the belt option.

Got both and neither given me any problems. Nor have I seen anything about either lens having AF issues.

PE - re yr Q2, if you are using a manual lens, then the options you can use are limited, depending on whether it's an 'A' series lens or not. The manual covers this in a couple of pages towards the end IIRC.

Most people here will use AV, TV or M to get the image they want by controlling depth of field, shutter speed to freeze motion or both to get a specific effect. New users are encouraged in the manual to start with the green button setting - and that not intended to be disparaging - it's there as a learning option. We all come to DSLRs from different starting points - film, bridge, P&S or none - so we all have legacy issues which impact on where we are and where we want to be.

Very few of the images posted here have been tweaked to any great extent - horizon straightened (or not!) and a bit of sharpening seems to be it. Comments here are usually more to do with composition and technique - so can be a good technical learning resource as well as informing and inspiring.

Can't say I've noticed any issues yet but

1. It's a tight fit and if you don't push on it at the right angle, can stay put - same on K7

2. Camera uses an notional frame size to calc no of frames left on the card. As soon as you start to use it, actual frames sizes vary and are often smaller than the notional size used, so effective capacity increases. Same can be seen with any digi camera.

3. Can't say I've ever timed this. But logic suggests the bigger file size of the K5 will take a bit longer than that say of the K7.
