I now have the magazine option in the menu, but I'm unable to view magazine PDF's.

I have just joined and had it confirmed followed Johns recommendation but I am unable to find the magazine article for PDF download.
Apart from the conformation of joining what shows me that I am now a Pentax Member Plus.

You can't from the magazine tab.
You need to go to the tab Articles and the first one that's PU Plus specific is the article on the KM, KX and K2. You can't open this without PU Plus membership. I haven't tested them all, but so far as I know at this moment that's the first of the archive articles to be put up for Plus members, with more to follow.
