That's a great designation for some of these, Peter I think those in particular would work really well in conjunction with their counterparts in your previous set of images, Bill. There's good material there to work on some interesting diptychs. I also like how some details come out differently (more importantly, I should say) than they would in more 'classic' images - the bus number in 5, for example, the wiggly streaks of light in 7... And the electric elves sauntering through 9 certainly caught my eye.

What I really like are the abstracts though. The uncanny movement in the blue police monument in 4 and 10, the watery fire in 8 and the geometrically abstract yet sort-of-recognizable-as-to-what-it-may-be of 6 and 12. 6 is special with its butterfly shapes of light fluttering around. I have no idea how those came to be... A real belter that one!

Really like 2 & 4, Gareth - I'll just call them the 'foggy rocks' Very moody and mysterious.

Also in favour of b+w, as they stand. The colours might bring something different in an interesting way, but would probably need another processing approach (or maybe, as Andy says above, if there were more wetness involved...).
Anyway, good shooting (and processing)

I'd call that a bloody good mornings work
I'll second that. 6 & 8 are wonderfully subtle, in form, colour and feel. Regarding 7: I'd go for the crop (but maybe not quite as much - just getting rid of the distracting clouds at the top and leaving a slight band of light sky above the dark hills could be interesting).

Interesting viewpoints here. The second and third of the second set work best for me, as does the bullock and tree reflection of the very last one.

Thank you all for your thoughts.

I'm happy I managed to convey the harsh Maltese light - that was definitely part of what I was after (midday Malta doesn't offer much of an alternative anyways ). As for the geometric aspect, the first shot got me in the mindset, which developed from there - ending with the particularly angular last shot (the type of shot that is just there, asking for you to capture it).

Please don't be sorry, you are expressing a perfectly valid and argumented personal view

Thank you Lenny.

Yes, I would definitely have toned that down had I decided to go for colour!

Thank you for your thoughts, Nigel. One of these does work all right in colour (to my taste at least):

I like the b+w just as much though, and thought it best to keep the set consistent. The thing is, colour just doesn't do much for me (in my own photography, that is). When I do feel an image will work in colour, it's almost always after the fact, and more often than not a happy accident, and I think of the processing as a 'colour conversion' from the b+w that was originally in my mind... I would need to work on that, as I see plenty of coloured beauties (many of which on these very forums), but I haven't the time nor the want to develop that new set of skills...

Indeed. And I like the subtleness of the set as a whole.

1 to 6 form a very nice set, Lenny, with 6 standing out as the most compelling for me. Lovely shades of yellow/green, on a background of dark brown earth, straight lines and curves, wonderful light.
