The first of the Heathfield images is the one I'd choose out of this series, particularly for its use of colour - and 'popping' colour at that! A well-thought composition, too: the green blades in the foreground bringing my eye to travel beyond it and explore the rest.

I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Malta recently. I can't say I would have chosen the island as a travel destination, nor that I developed any special bond to it while there. If I were to go back, I'd need to plan things differently and spend my time out in the countryside (or what is left of it). Valletta and the whole east coast was way too much for me, in terms of cars, buses, trucks, construction/destruction - and related noise and dust and rough (yet uncannily skilled!) bus drivers. And the sheer number of people on such a small rock (and this was october, I can't imagine what it might be like in full tourist season)!

I did manage to find a few moments of peace, and even quiet (one always does, given the time), provided by a small collection of fishing/summer shacks at the very tip of the Valletta peninsula. Two elderly gents taking their lunchtime swim were the only humans present in this haven, maybe 200 metres away from the madding crowds uptown... Hopefully I managed to capture a bit of what felt like (melancholy) positivity in the midday sun!

I very much like 'coulour & chaos 1" - wonderful colours and textures. The IRs work quite well for me, especially the last two - love how all that light jumps out from the darkness of the borders.

Beautifully lit composition, quite atmospheric.

I'll agree with the comments above, 1&2 are grand, and so is the spectre.

+1 for #4 - they look like jellyfish rising up out of the deep dark ocean. No cropping for me, please.

Something different here, Bill, yet still you of course. #3 is such an interesting (intriguing, beautiful, mysterious, nervous...) image. The crowd is powerfully rendered - zombie-esque somehow (not that that would have been your intention, I imagine) - in awe of the very flames they are fanning.
The crispness of 4 & 5 are balanced by the unfocused forms of 2 & 7, while 6 links the earthly flames of the bonfire to their aerial pendant in the following firework images (of which I have a preference for 14's abstractness and 15's minimalism). #1 seems to announce it all - the 'pixellated' effect bringing out a surprising harshness to the scene. The colours throughout are beautiful.

Really really appreciate #3, so much atmosphere in there, so many stories to explore...

Lovely light games going on on that bridge's underside.

I had a lot of fun with my K-01, learned my craft on it, and loved (I still do) the resulting image quality. It has unfortunately developed a sticky shutter syndrome, and I now use it only for the odd video (in which mode the shutter stays open with no problem). The expense of fixing it may be worth it, but I happened upon a new K-70 + 5 year warranty for a good price, so... Funds allowing, I would do the fix, no question!

Have fun Peter! I haven't used anything but 28mm (at times with tubes) for at least a year, and not much else in the past three or four... I wish I could give every existing 28mm a spin, and this one would certainly be high on the list!
