The 18-35mm might not be a great zoom range but, what I like about this lens apart from the great quality feel, weight and light gathering ability of the lens, is the fact that with such a sharp lens you can crop the images quite dramatically and still produce good quality results. I'll try and add some images later, when I'm at my computer.

I'll probably have a trial run this weekend seeing just how much gear I can sensibly pack into what space and how much it all weighs. I hadn't got as far as thinking about a Tripod, here again I have the choice of a decent (substantial weight) vanguard tripod or a Velbon Monpod, which is also substantial but obviously that bit lighter, or I could borrow my son's lightweight Camlink tripod, which will be prone to wind movement but is much lighter and shorter +ve in terms of packing.
Decisions decisions?

I have the Pentax 18-135 which I'll be taking as my walk around Lens as it offers weather protection if we get the odd shower and is a good general purpose jack of all trades but should I then go wider, (I have the Sigma 8-16) or should I go narrower & further (Sigma DG EX 70-300), any suggestions?

Coupling this Lens to the front of a K3, could be one of the all time dream combinations!
I'd welcome your thoughts.

Most of the competition entries I produce are A3 sized prints, to me a digital image isn't really a photograph, in the true sense, unless you can hold it in your hands.
I'm considering buying a second camera body, to reduce the number of lens changes I do out in the field, as Pentax haven't yet produced a weather sealed 8-300mm F2.8 DA* lens.
I'm thinking of missing out the K5ii family completely and jumping straight to the K3, as I don't believe getting another 16 megapixel camera is going to offer me much of an upgrade in image quality of the K30.
I'd welcome your thoughts.

It's almost certain to be the case if Pentax produce a FF DSLR. The provision will be there to switch to APS-C so that crop sensor lenses can still be used.

To me this suggests that the prices for all the other variants of the K3, (and then by necessity the rest of the Pentax DSLR range) are likely to drop shortly, so that the Prestige is the top product?
I think it does look cool in Gun Metal, but I'd be interested to know from K3 silver and black owners how well the silver holds up after reasonable wear and use, before I committed to buy anything other than all black.
