Just seen the local forecast and chaecked the MWIS..looks like your timing is pretty good, should be a good day, it would be worth getting there for sunrise I think, light winds expected which may mean the chance of some of those stunning Snowdonia reflections

The recent snowy conditions here in North Wales have produced some scenes which just seem perfect for conversion to black & white..here's one taken a couple of weekends ago of Eglwyseg Rocks near Llangollen, this was taken from the Horseshoe Pass

I'm a big fan on the book by Michael Freeman, The Photographers Eye, a little deep in places but certainly makes you think about what you class as the non-technical aspects of photography....this one looks interesting too although it seems to be mainly for portrait photography?

have just taken delivery of a K5iis only to find its raw files are not compatible with photoshop 5 or photoshop 6 - can't be opened in Adobe bridge either. No information about this in manual. Pretty useless really. I can see the new camera being on ebay pretty soon.
Very strange reaction, being unhappy with a new camera because you're using out of date software on your PC Just follow the advice already given and I'm sure you'll keep it

I read you're opening post and immediately thought about the DA17-70 rather than the 18-135, then read Mikes and noticed he'd already said the same...personally speaking I think the WR aspect is a little oversold,it's nice to have but I certainly wouldn't put it near the top of my list for deciding which lens to buy. I photograph in one of the wettest places in the UK and have never had a problem with non-wr lenses

The DA17-70 is a really good lens for landscapes, I take 85% of mine with it despite owning the DA21mm (and previously the DA15mm), which seems to keep getting left in the bag. I agree with John about Pentax lenses too, they do produce better colour/contrast than alternatives from most other manufacturers.
