To be completely honest I don't really agree with most of the posted comments, except partially with Stuart. The shots are peak daylight hour images which inevitably get a little "bleached" out by the high sun, they do look to lack contrast and appear quite flat to me, I'm guessing this is the reason for the processing which I don't think is too bad.

Composition wise shot 1 is THE classic viepoint of Llyn Gwynant, I have 2/3 from the very spot myself and it's a great view. I like the lead-in using the rocks on the third and the tree in the 2nd is full of potential, a closer focal length might have made it even better making the tree an even more dominant feature, just a thought

like i say Simon just taken some snaps not gone for an award
If I didn't know better, and we were on any other forum than the Pentax one, I'd get the impression you're being ever so slightly sarcy Apologies for missing the "snaps" comment in your OP, in that context they're great, next set might be the award-winners

If there's an upcoming pandemic of watermarks I guess I'll just enjoy less pics.
It certainly would be a shame if this does happen, I'll be happy to remove my watermarks if the legislation isn't as negative as suggested...even worse is the fact that several pro photographers are already closing their Flickr/FB accounts so rather than make photography/media more available the Act may well have completely the opposite effect

You could always reduce the size if you're worried about someone stealing it. It's 850 pixels long, 800 fits the forum best anyway, so there are not many uses for an 800 pixel image. Reduce it to 600 and there are even less.

Perhaps better a clear small image than a marred large one?
To be honest John I find most people don't have an issue with the watermark, I certainly don't when viewing others shots, although I can appreciate that some find them distracting...reducing image size doesn't have any benefit for ownership either which looks to be about to get a whole lot more important...the final reason is that all photos I post are directly shared from my website so reducing resolution would mean changing my website images which I'm not inclined to do

Thanks for the feedback everyone...Gwyn, I see what you mean, the lights are not as strong in this scene as some of the others so the foreground is a bit stronger,

Smeggy...I think the watermark is pretty subtle, sorry you can't get past it but I think you'll be posting such comments a whole lot more soon if the concerns regarding the new copyright act are proven

Thanks...shame I didn't have an even wider lens to squeeze in a bit more, the photo doesn't really do it full justice, great to see though

Thanks everyone, enjoyed every minute of my visit and may well revisit some time in the future just for the photography.

First two shots were K5 + 12-24, rest DA17-70, the first one especially needed the 12mm, unfortunately it still wasn't wide enough to capture the full effect of the Northern lights and include foreground interest so I shot the one below without foreground as a record shot really

Thanks guys...it really is a photographers paradise, I'd love to go back again but next time just for photography as most of my shots were taken whilst on organised tours so time/locations were limited

Me & the wife have just spent a wonderful few days sightseeing in Iceland, awesome scenery...couldn't believe our luck to catch the Northern Lights in Reykjavic too despite travelling in late April, we were on organised tours but i managed to grab a few shots along the way
