Another nice shot Bob..I'd be tempted to clone out the lens flare just to the bottom left of the clock, it's a bit too distracting

I was definitely guilty of 1 as it isn't also convenient lugging the K5 + lenses etc. around and I was never really satisfied with the quality of photographs shot on compacts so often didn't bother with that either...the Sony RX100 has changed all that though, it's everywhere with me and I sometimes use it even when the K5 is in my bag.

No 2...sometimes, but mainly when I'm out hiking..it's much more tiring to stop & start when on the way up a mountain so I do still grab the odd shot, the wife won't wait either I'm much more inclined these days to make a note of the location and revisit anyway as it's not too often that lighting conditions are particularly good for landscapes during the daytime in Snowdonia, althoug the winter months are much better for this

No.3 .. not guilty

There's no doubt the more you practice the better you get, getting feedback on shots I also see as very important as you can't see past your own photo sometimes..it's been a big help to me over the years and continues to be

I always have mine in the rucksac even in the middle of summer...had to turn back in August a few years ago as the summit temperature was below freezing...lesson learnt

I find them instantly recognisable as your photographs. You seem to have a common strand of shooting style and processing that runs through your work which is very much to my taste.
John, I really REALLY appreciate your comments. To have a specific 'style' which you recognise as my work, well, that's just brilliant and I can't ask for more.

And Simon - to answer your question, yes I'm having a measure of success selling my Chester work. The most recent of my prints sold were for these two, both were ordered at 40" x 30". Not small at all!

6 of my images are on display in a cafe in Chester with some more at a restaurant in nearby Frodsham. I've also recently done work with a Chester restaurant who wanted photos of their new menu, and I'm the official photographer at a 3 day music festival at the end of the month (really looking forward to that one!) It's all starting to take off a bit. Plus my website went live today too! I still have a day job as an IT Project Manager, but for the first time I'm seriously starting to believe that in a year or so I could be doing this photography lark full time. Exciting times.
Excellent Bob, you have some great stuff and deserve the success

This would make a good letterbox crop panorama shot

I don't mind the burned out portions of sky just above the horizon. In fact in some ways it provides a deep contrast to the tree silhuettes.
Yes, I'm with Smeggy on that..it's a great shot and all about lines/texture, a tighter crop on the bottom to remove the darker foreground at the very bottom of the frame and a tighter crop on the right hand side to remove most of the vertical cloud pattern...the shot would then have a very strong right to left movement which I think would be even better than what's already a great image...hope this makes sense and please chose to completely ignore it if you don't agree

Yes, definitely another great set of shots..wish I could shoot architecture as well as that!! Really like the 3rd but find that out of them all the 1st appeals most mainly because of how the building fills the frame, really strong image I think.

Did you ever get around to selling your work in Chester?

Hi Stu, only just getting around to viewing the Snowdonia meet shots.

Some really nice images here. Really like the bridge arches (last one in first set) and I love a good waterfall shot and you have a couple.

I mentioned in another thread I think Dinorwig is a great place to visit but difficult to photograph, at least I find it that way but you've done a better job than me...I think that 3rd close-up shot is the way to go, nice detail and a good balance of manmade vs natural, it has a good strong focal point too which isn't easy to achieve at Dinorwig as there's so much around

Nice series, glad the weather was on your side too!!

I'm going with the last as my favourite too, great view of Tryfan..strangely one I've never photographer myself though.

Dinorwig is a really interesting place to visit but I find a very difficult one to photograph although you've done a good job of showing the manmade vs natural.

Very nice set of shots Alan, great light..I think I'd pick the 2nd as my favourite mainly as I prefer the foreground. The 1st has great light too and I do like it, my eye gets pulled from left to right and back again a little though, between the pier and pipeline

Lovely set

it is and i really don't mind at all its good to learn from overs and how they see things, from there side.
No problem..as I said I know were a pretty chilled out bunch on here and we can take a joke, or a little wind-up, when needs be.

I try to be honest with my feedback as that's what I like people to be with me, I do find it helpful even if I don't necessarily agree and this forum as well as a couple of others have really helped me improve my photography over the last few years and hopefully will in the years to come
