I've also used a Metz 48 for a while and it's been a fine servant. I think £99 is a pretty good price, especially as you'll get 6 months warranty (I think the last one on here went for about £120).

They did the same for me last year when I ordered a Sigma 10-20. The price was reduced just after I placed my order (some new stock arrived) and they refunded me the difference.

Top marks.

Yes Chris - it's the middle one if you're running Windows. It comes as an executable file so you just have to double click on it to unzip it (to the location you want). You'll then see a .pdf file (called Metz_mecablitz_FW_Update_GB_Windows_2010) which contains the instructions.

The pdf file contained in the firmware zip file (link) gives you instructions on how to run the update. Once you've run the initial steps on your PC, you have to remember to remove the batteries from the flash before connecting it via USB.

You then have to execute the next step with the flash connected and when that's finished you get the "Ok, Update successful finished" message on your screen. I've never had any problems to be honest - are you not getting this final confirmation?

A Pentax AF 280T served me very well for a while - the flash head swivels and turns. They tend to come up on ebay for about £25 quite regularly.

If you want a newer, full auto model, then I'd say you're looking at about £100 for a secondhand Pentax AF360 (as mentioned above) or Metz 48. Depends how much you want to spend really.

Are there a both a DA and a DA L versions?, and what is the difference?
If you're referring to the 55-300, there are both versions.

The "L" version lacks the quick shift focus feature and also has a plastic (rather than metal) mount. It also doesn't come with a lens hood. Thus it's significantly cheaper ...

That's what puzzled me. The Samyang seems to retail everywhere else for a lot less, so didn't know if this was something new. Alas not.

Was wondering if anyone could shed any light on this link?

Don't know if perhaps it's a rebranded Samyang?

Here's a link to the ebay sale (£262) - link

I've actually got one of these (which is not for sale unfortunately) and whilst it's a lovely lens I'm not sure I'd pay £262 for a replacement if I dropped mine.

If you don't mind the (much cheaper) M version, you might want to have a look at ffordes who have got a couple in stock.

Good luck,
Mark
